In that statement by Elliot, he states "240 hp is not enough." Hmmm, not enough? Well if the new Accord weighs more, then no, it wont be enough to oust the Altima out of top spot. He should also keep in mind horsepower is nothing without torque, especially in a sedan. Nissan is the tough guy here.
Nissan: 1. Honda: 0.
Also, it takes good gear ratios to take advantage of that V6 torque and a powerful clutch to transfer that power from engine to pavement. This might be moot point however, I doubt Honda will offer a true manual transmission with their V6 like Nissan does.
Nissan: 2. Honda: 0.
The 4cyl version of the '02 Accord is not mentioned. And I don't blame them. Looking at Hondas current roster of weak torqued motorcycle like 4cylinder motors, I doubt they will trump Nissans 2.5 litre 180hp/180lb/ft of torque. Highly doubt.
Nissan: 3. Honda: 0.
And if there is a SE-R version of the Alti as mentioned then its game over!
I think thats called a ShutOut. Hehe!

Sales aside, if you ask me Nissan has always lead in performance, looks, value and in some cases (but not quite all) quality. Honda (and others) seem to always mock or try to do the same things Nissan innovates to try to catch up.
