Thanks for posting this link...

It made me realize that the front of of this car is not as square and Shovel Nosed I 1st thought. I really like it more than I thought.

I just keep imagining the grille body colored! That would make for a stunning SE model.

Nissan really has a winner on it's hands here.

I bet the sharks in the Nissan showrooms are salivating at the possble sales around the corner! And I can't blame them (enter Jaw's theme here)... http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif

Again, great job Nissan design team!

Man, look at those blue on yellow gages, I hope that makes it to production. That is the most original gage design.

It looks like these photos are from some sort of press preview event. I wondering if anyone has driving impressions up? Yes, I know they're "embargoed" until July 27, but hey, this is the Internet!

This blue one make me salivating all over my keyboard!!! This is a photo of an 3.5, isn't it?

This is the first time a sedan truly make me crazy... So far I was excited with the Se-R, but now, I badly want one of those Altima...

It is no question that I love the new Altima, but I want to know if those alloy wheels on the 3.5SE are 16 inches. They look different from the Production photos first given out. I like the Production alloy wheels better than the ones in these pictures. I like that ruby red color, just like I liked Mahogany Pearl on the 2000 Maxima. The styling looks very european, a cross between the Passat and 300M. I'd like to see more pictures of the interior, especially the wood grain trim. I can't wait to get my brochure in the mail.

These wheels aren't as Skyline esque as the earlier prototypes. I hope they are still 17".

3.5SE has 17" alloys standard, if thats the 3.5SE, which I believe it is, then those are the 17" alloy's we'll be getting.

**DONOTDELETE**

The reason I ask this question is because at the autoshow in New York, both models had the same set of alloy wheels, even though the blue one was a 3.5SE and the gold one was a 2.5S, I thought maybe Nissan was doing what they did with the Maxima SE, having 17" in late production.

Hey, what is up with bodykits? http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/mad.gif The good folks at Nissan do an OUTSTANDING job on these cars AS THEY ARE. What . . . do you think we should put dreadlocks on the Mona Lisa? Get over it!! Leave these babies as they are, or as they are with NISSAN options. Don't mess with a good thing.

You have to admit that coupe that comebody came up with was awesome looking. It may not be exactly a body kit, but Nissan doesn't always design beautiful looking cars. It's kind of like if Sprite designed cars.

Would the 2002 Altima compete against the 2002 Maxima too, since they are so close to each other as far as the body size and the mechanical components.

Being we are photoshopping here...

I agree with the above.. but how about it in WHITE with a body color grille as the only modification?

I feel this car is missing a strong styling standpoint by not having a body color grille (on SE only)....

The coupe did look good; I will give you that. Nevertheless, I would never buy one unless Nissan made it that way. It's just a purist thing. If it isn't Nissan, it doesn't belong on a Nissan.

Thanks GTR!

I love the white grille...

Nissan started body color grilles a long time ago, on SE model vehicles. I see no where that this car resembles a Civic. If anything it is quite the reverse.

If I do go for the 2002 Altima, I now know I will be visiting my local body shop for a grille-job. Thanks again!

I immediately notice what is missing from the "comparison" info on the link in the first post....weight and gas mileage. The Altima must be heavy with poor MPG!

Weight is listed at www.nissannews.com (http://www.nissannews.com) . 02 Altima weighs slightly less than 02 Maxima, I believe around 40 pounds less for the 3.5 SE Auto, the heaviest variant. Still no MPG figures, though....

hiwayman17
06-30-2001, 12:26 AM
I know the weight is listed on that website. It just isn't listed on the comparison chart, so that makes me a little suspicious, though upon further investigation, I see that Nissan is even more suspiciously reporting some weights that are EXACTLY the same as the competition.

I didn't see this until just now. My "LOL" was toward the COMMENT that life is hard for the automobile stylist -- a comment seemingly intended to project harmless humor -- not towards the renditions.

Relax. You know my views; I don't like aftermarket stuff on automobiles. As I've said before, I am a purist. Most, granted not all, but most of the renditions you create show extensive body kit additions. I just don't like tack-ons, unless they are offered as options by the manufacturer (e.g., spoilers, side sills, etc.). As for "Dreadlocks," its called a humoristic metaphor. No offense intended. Chill.

Oh, and the suicide thing. You think YOU work hard on photoshopping? Imagine what the actual Nissan designers go through to create the art that they do!! Then, after all the THOUSANDS of hours they put into those designs, aftermarket body kits are almost instantly added -- telling the designers that they forgot something -- that the car would look better if they had just added all the stuff a body kit adds. After all that work, the least we can do is a wait a few years before we start messing with what they have created.

Just my opinion, but I think the designers get a bit frustrated with those that insist on changing their designs. You think Da Vinci would've liked the new owner of the Mona Lisa putting dreadlocks on it after it was done -- just because in their opinion the painting would look better that way?

The Nissan designers have ton of sweat equity in their work, let's give 'em a break -- that's all I am saying.

hey, im just some kid in front of the computer with a lil time on his hands for renderings. nowhere did i ever say that ive poured sweat and blood into my stuff. let's just face the fact that there are people not satisfied with current car designs. if they want to make their car look different and they have the money, they by all means have the right to do with their car what they want. heck even nissan designers dont always seem to be quite satisfied with their original designs. look at the 5th generation maxima for example. on the 20th anniversary se, they added an underbody kit. now for 2002, they've re-done the front and rear of the maxima. even they know that there's room for improvement.

I think calling automobiles "works of art" is taking it to an extreme. Granted there are many people who don't like after market body kits or the like, but there are people who do. You have to remember that the designers can't be too aggresive in their designs because the big shots won't let them be...you know, they still have to appeal to a larger market, people who don't want the body kits and stuff. But usually, you see a concept that has really aggresive looks, with large wheels and fancy paint, then when (and if) that car makes it to production, it is usually very toned down, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I for one like the looks of a subtle body kit, like the Stillen one for the Maxima's...I don't like seeing big wings and huge air dams, but that's my taste, others may like it.
