I am planning on spending a good $15,000 to *rice* up my Altima for now more $ later. I'm thinking engine mods, bodykit, paintjob, etc. My dad is totally against it and is telling me that your going to get in trouble on the street and your car won't sell at all if you do it. I love cars a lot, and I really want to mod up my Altima but was he right about nobody buying a *riced* up Altima? I'm thinking with 15k on the Altima I can do a lot of work to it to make it look really good especially with a bodykit and fast. If you are wondering why anyone would want to mod up an Altima well check out http://importfan.com/altima_98_up_b.asp
After seeing the Aero Duo bodykit I fell in love. Well plz let me know on what you guys think. Thanks

A kit would be OK IMO, and who deosn't love more power. However, this term "rice' is getting old, and I thought it only applied to 4 cylinder engines? I see it is an american derragatory slang. They got more than one for alllraces. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/rolleyes.gif My ex girlfeind even has "RYCRCKT" on her license plates, I just wanted to slap her .

To put in $15k, and more later, to a car that can be bought right now brand new for $14K - $17K, does not seem to make any sense. How much money do you already have in the car? Seems to me there are plenty of better options - just my opinion....

For $15k, you can do a lot better than dumping into the Altima.
'91-'93 240SX goes for $3k to $5k.
That leaves about $10k left.
$5k for S13 SR20DET swap, with large front mount intercooler, upgraded fuel system, and be good for 300hp.
So there's $5k left for heavy duty racing suspension like Tein Coilovers, 300ZX brake upgrades, Front & Rear Strut tower bars...
And by the time you are done, you will have a fast car on the road, dragstrip, and even the local roadcourse/racetrack...
Keep the Altima for a daily beater... And use the S13 240SX as a sports car. There's no point in making a 4 door sedan to try and become a sports car when you can buy a much better platfrom for that purpose...

I like the kit. I would only recommend it if you are thinking of keeping the car for a long time and are willing to deal with potential problems and down time, than you can go a loooong way with 15k. The KA is a strong motor, but you might also want to consider a sr20det swap. I would say spend 5k on wheels/suspension, 8k on performance/braking, and 2k pimping up the vehicle interior/exterior..
Although, if it were me, I would just save the money for a year (since your car would probably be in the shop for that long), and buy the new Z or G35...put your deposit down now, and be the first on your block to get a car that will pick up a lot more chicks..think about it, 300hp in an condusive driving environment that won't start making wierd noises every month..and you could boost afterward it if your still not satisfied..

You MUST be joking!! http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/shocked.gif If not, you must seek professional help, IMMEDIATELY. Moroever, LISTEN TO YOUR DAD!! The man speaks words of wisdom. DO NOT waste thousands on all that TRASH!! If you must put some money into, put the funds into increased performance, a nice paint job, and a very SUBTLE bodykit. Whatever you do, DO NOT add all that other garbage and make your incredible car into a ghettomobile-gansta special!! Stop the madness!! http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/shocked.gif

$15k is a lot of money, enough to buy a new car if you sold your altima. yes the front air dam looks good, but the sides and rear will always look "altima" no matter what you put on them and no you will never get the 15k back out of the car if you were ever to sell it, so i would plan on keeping it for a long time if you go for it. you have to do what you like, i personally would buy a new g35/is300 and mod that if i had the cash.

Take the 15K, trade your car and put 8K down on a NEW ALTIMA THEN put the remainig money into the NEW one. That's my advise. Besides, you put in all that dough and a new one probbably would be faster and look nicer. Just my opinion.
