Looks like the Infiniti website has FINALLY been updated with a 75% complete section on the 2001 QX4 (after a couple months of a pathetic, on-again, off-again "preview" site). I say 75% because it's still missing pricing info (not even the dealers know this yet), color combinations, and a build-your-own-QX4 feature. But it DOES have 360-degree panoramics of the new interior and exterior.
Spoke with 3 different Infiniti dealers in my area (San Francisco, CA), and all said they were expecting inventory in a couple weeks. Interestingly, I've heard more conflicting information from the local Nissan dealers regarding the Pathfinder, ranging from a few weeks to a few months.
As aforementioned, dealers are (allegedly) in the dark with regard to pricing at this point (on the QX4 at least). All of them have said the same thing: prices could stay the same, or they could go up (gee, what a useful tidbit of information). They all do agree that a 4WD model with all the options (including $2k GPS) will be hovering at the $40k price point...and don't expect anything less than full MSRP, initially.
I'm getting anxious to see one in real life, but I have to admit, for $40k, I'm tempted to save several grand and get the Pathfinder LE instead...

for 40 G's you could look at the new Mitsubishi Montero--pretty sweet looking in my opinion. but for a driving enthusiast, the 240 hp QX4 would be a better choice over the bulky and less powerful fullsize Montero

Hey I would not pay more than 35k. for a loaded QX4, especially since the PF is going to get the AWD and loaded it's thee same as a QX4 with a more powerful stereo( qx4 150w, PF 180w ). extra wood and plastic only adds weight and if the vehicle is built right you should not have to experince the Infiniti service differnce and the rental car, the car is only suppose to need filter and fluid change periodically. Why would I pay a extra 4500.00 for a QX4

I'm sorry but I think NIssan is off the mark on this one too. The increased hp via the VQ35DE is great, but what about the rest of the package. Power isn't everything (look at the Camry sales, especially the 4 cylinder model). It looks as demure and uninnovative as it has always, with now more like a Star Trek Borg front end. Nissan maybe shooting for 1000 units a month, while Lexus is still around 6000+!! And with the Acura MDX just lurking around the corner with a 3.5L V6 of their own (and then a upcoming V8), this Pathfinder is going to need a remake soon! What happened to the old SUV hybrids Nissan had in creation like the Trailrunner...it would of been a hit and then some (just look at the RX300). Everyone likes SUV's, but no one likes the looks of one!

The Rx300 is a station wagon for christ sake, looked at one, drove it, then I had flash backs of going to the grocery store wiith my mother as a child, got the chills and had to leave the lexus dealer. the pathfinder is a truck ( it's been soften recently ) but it enjoys a over whelming positive feedback on the looks of the vehicle, that's why they did not deviate too much from it's looks this year. speaking of looking ugly the RX 300 looks like a giant guppy, the mercedes looks like a mazda MPV, the 4 runner looks like a teenage hotrod with the hood scoop with a 180 mhorse power engine, the landrover looks like it's just retired from WWII. the Acura which now uses a Isuzu as luxary SUV is building a sataion wagon with their new iteration of a SUV or SUC, or whatever( it get you to the grocery store in the rain motto ). I WANT A 'TRUCK' not a 2000 version of the station wagon that all these companies are trying to shove down our thoats. PLEASE all the housewives!! stop buying SUVs and let them return back to their origional form, thank god the Xterra is a hit!!!!

Ever heard of the term hybrid SUV? That's the whole point of my first post..that the Infiniti looks too truckish and doesn't deviate enough from it's Pathfinder heritage. Do you say Lexus, BMW, MB, or Acura doing the same? YOu may not like the looks of the RX300 but apparently a lot of other do..just look at the sales number. But then again, you don't fit the prototypical profile of new gen SUV buyers who buy it for on road versatility first and offroad last. Different strokes for different folks..as for me, give me the Lexus 470 or the new Sequoia http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum//images/icons/smile.gif

Actually someone I knew bought a QX4 because it did look truckish and didn't like the RX300 because it looked too much like a minivan. I think it can go both ways. There are SUV buyers out there who want their vehicle to look like a truck but not drive or ride like one. And that fits the QX4 well.
