I am buying a Q45t and have not found a market for my 90 Pearl White M30 Coupe with 188K miles on her. Dealer suggested donating her to charity and writing it off. The car has been fantastic over the years and it will be very difficult to part with her. My question : Has anyone had any experience with this mode of disposal and does anyone have any other suggestions ? Trade value of $1450.00 just won't do it ! Retail value of almost $6000.00 makes better sense to write it off as a charitable contribution.

Keep it! That car is rare. Garage it and keep advertising it on ebay, somebody will buy it. I know I would if I had extra cash lying around.

You might want to try putting it up for sale on ebay. I have seen a few Infins. fetch a good bit of $$$ on there. Just a suggestion.

I understand your feelings on the value of your car,but what do you think someone will pay for a 200k mile auto? If they are talking 1500 bucks, you should be able to get 2000-2500 in the paper.6 grand would be a pipedream.I saw a 97k mile example in original paint sell for around that (might have been a hair cheaper than 6).As far as collectiblity goes, someone who wants a "keeper" is going to look for that 40k mile one grandma bought in '91.

i agree, but what if the car had a 60k engine in it?
have you (Boater) thought about an engine swap, a few mechanical updates, cosmetic updates and u have yourself a collercor's car, and that my friend, is a keeper!

I've been in the car biz a while... if any car has close to 200K miles... it's not worth more than $1500... think about it... if you were buying a car, would you want a car that has close to 200K miles? Most people think 100K is too much... I would sell it for parts... you will get more money that way... for instance... seats you could sell for $200, etc... or even try selling it eBay...

You know..you could swap the engine, paint it,put new leather in it...and its still a 200k mile car..never will be a collector unless it was the last one on earth!

I'd keep it as a second car.

I plan doing it with my old-old 300zx when the time to buy a new car comes. If you have more than one car on the insurance policy, you pay less. Also, I like travelling by car, so having second car that has many-many miles lets you avoid racking up a lot of miles on your new and expensive car if you like long distance driving (and M30 probably has better gas mileage than Q45).
