hi all,
just got my first infiniti, a 95 g20t. looking to increase performance.
gonna do the whole shabang, intake, headers, exhaust, body kit, ect... or what i can find.
if anyone has info for this car, would you please contact me or post a reply. it seems there aren't too many places to find stuff for this car.
i need to replace side mirrors and rear signal assemblys, if you know where i can get them, please post.
thanks,
hmonghero
Look at the "tailights" topic in this forum. It concerns your G20. Also look into a SR20DE turbo kit which I'm sure other people on these forums know more about than me.

hey i got a question - which G20 is the better one? Is it the old one or the new one? Consumer Reports called the old one a gem with BMW-like handling and called the current one a piece of junk.
My opinion on P10 (91-96) vs. P11 (99-on) G20 is that the P10 is more fun to drive than the P11. I've driven both and when you're just cruising they feel about the same, but when it comes to acceleration and cornering I liked the P10 better. The 96 I drove was a base 5 speed with only 40,000 mi. or so on it and it accelerated faster than the 99 G20t 5 sp. I test drove. The P10 has independent struts in the rear while the P11 has the multilink beam. I prefer the independent rear in the older car.
Sport Compact Car magazine did a SR20DE cam test in June 2000. They mentioned the 91-93 G20 had different cylinder heads and cams (or some combination of the two) than the 94-96 and 99 G20s. And the 2000 G20 has roller rocker arms. All of this will affect you if you plan to change cams or whatever. SCC reported the 91 intake cam yielded better performance than the intake cam from mid 93 and on. I don't know much about the SR20DE. I'm pretty much regurgitating what the article says, but it sounds to me like a 91 or 92 G20 makes more power than the later ones.

not to sound negative but trade it in for a Maxima?

Sport Compact Car magazine tested a G20 with the JWT turbo kit (proto) I think. It made around 170 hp at the wheels with no intercooler. The manifold was from a pulsar GTI-R and the turbo was from a Silvia.

ok, thanks for the info so far. i've been doing some research and found, what seems to be the primary manufacturer of aftermarket parts for nissan/infiniti vehicles.
http://www.jimwolftechnology.com
he makes just about everything for our cars. anyone have any experience or heard of anyone dealing with this company?
and what are your opinions on the order of modifactions...; tires, intake, exhaust, ...
thanks anyways

thanks for all the help agian, but more questions...
kay, but to what i was sayin before, it goes in this order right,
intake
exhaust
chip
headers
cams
what should i do first, do in need to get a short shifter, does it really make the car more fun to drive? I've been driving for about 2 hours now (just learning for the very first time), getting it real good, on flat ground that is. haven't taken on the hills yet.
having real trouble with going very slow, like one or two miles per hour. like for parking. when i come to park, you have to go slow, but the car has to be in gear to move the car in place, to park. but when it goes that slow, it chokes and dies. frustrated with that, and reverse is the sh*t... it sucks. i either end up going too fast, or the car chokes. man...but like i said, on straight ways its ok...
oh, another problem, last night i was practicing for an hour or so, and learning how to get the car going from stopped position. i get the car to start, go in gear, and choke, choke, and again choke. now because the car died so many times, (i was learning to drive) each time i start the car, it eats the amps from the battery. it seemed, that a few times, the car wouldn't start after it died a couple times in a row. you know what i'm sayin? is it that i was learning and that that ate too much power from the battery, or that i need new batteries, plugs, ect... on that note, what's those ignition kits in the magazines, and ignition wires and ignition coils, ... do these just start the car? or does it help the car even when it's driving?
guess that's enough questions for now,

You shouldn't need an aftermarket ignition system. Stock Nissan ignition is totally fine, unless you're making insane amounts of power. Also I think you should get your car chipped last after all your mods, and my suggestion is to go with the JWT ECU. It sounds like you're just getting used to driving 5speed, all you need is a good teacher. BTW what area are you in?

When your car sounds and feels like it's about to die, either give ita little more gas and start moving or clutch in and try engaging 1st again.
When you are parking the car wants to stall because you're moving too slow for your gear. Try coasting into the parking space with the clutch in and if you need more forward motion, put it in 2nd and feather the clutch back out. The key to learning a stick when you are used to an automatic is coasting. You need to take advantage of your car's inertial motion.

The others are right. Once you get use to driving stick, it won't be a problem. You just have to learn how to modulate the clutch and gas. Everybody had to learn one time or another. And I'm sure everybody here has stalled at least once in their life. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif

Hehehe... stall once in your life... thats kinda funny. When I learned (was forced to learn) my sister's friend took my car cuz she wanted to get on Lemoore NAS and I told her that I could kinda drive stick so she let me use her pickup. But she didn't come back by midnight so I had to use her truck to drive my cousin home to Visalia (30 min drive on the back roads with a bunch of stop signs) so... I think my record was like stalling like 15 times at one stop sign with everyone behind me honking and screaming ungodly names (I didn't know there was so much traffic at midnight on country roads) =) But I didn't stall at all on the way back. And now I have all my friends asking me to teach them how to drive stick. Just as long as they find a car to learn in. =)

war stories i tell ya...but thanks for the input. i'll try it out later, (in the park parking lot)...
one thing about the 95 g20 is that it doesn't that it doesn't have an unlock button inside the car, for the doors. so if someone other than me opens the door, without the remote keyless, they have to unlock all the other doors by hand. though of course i haven't really explored the car in deapth yet, too preoccupied with trying to learn how to drive it.
i'll get back to you when i tackle my first hill, oh boy!...

Try turning the key twice... once right after the other... it'll unlock all the doors...

hmon, man you have me here dying with your stories, first off, the door lock thingie should be right there by the hand brake. the car may also be hard to restart if you have the ac/heat on when trying to restart(g20's are a ********** when it comes to dying). it also sounds like you may be having some trouble measuring out the clutch and gas pedals, after a while it will come natural so keep practicing. Jim Wolf would definitely be the way to go regarding your upgrades. Did you buy the car from a dealer or private owner?? Whatever the case may be you may still want to replace your plugs, plug wires, etc and just do a little tuning up of your own. Seems like you're a little speed demon so take it ez, dont hurt yourself http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif
