I've dug up all my pics of the new Q and thought I'd share them with you all. Well, I don't know how to post them so I sent them to Noel in hopes of him doing it for me. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif Hopefully he'll get them up soon.
Once the pics are up though, some of you might have seen them already, then again, some of you may have not. There are doubters out there on the Q's styling, these pics should do the trick to turn your heads around. Respond people! That is when the pics are up, hehe

I re-did the codes I sent you and edited it into your post. Is it working for everyone?

I'm trying to post Infiniti's [the person, not the car company http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif] other photos, but am having trouble converting .art into .jpg format. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanx

Mike, the pics are working fine. Thanks again. Take your time with those other ones.

Are you saying you like it therabian? Well for the convertible part I think its just you to be blunt. I'm not trying to bust your bubble though so dont take it personal.

there's a program called IrfanView you can download for free from download.com or http://softwarecenter.net/irfanview/ that can convert one type of picture to another.

i'm not sure if it supports .art files, but it does support .bmp files, i'm not sure if they're similar. anyway, it's an excellent program and it's free http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif

I admit, your pics of the car definately do it more justice than the other pictures I've seen. I think it is mostly due to the bright lighting the magazines and online publications used to make their photos. Your photos of the car look much much better.

I've seen these pics before but they don't do the New Q any good. The lighting is way to dim and the quality of the pics aren't very good either. I think NissanNews.com has the best pics available. But this car is going to blow up when it debuts. I'm glad they pushed it up to March, better than nothing but I wish it was still introducd sooner.

The pics are from Edmunds.com. One picture I dont like from Nissannews.com is the front 3Q view of the Q. It really doesnt look like it there and it looks distorted for some reason. I got a ton of pics coming if Mike can transfer them into jpgs. Sorry mike. I have no idea how to do that stuff so I couldnt do it. But Mike sent me some more pics and they are absolutly mouth watering.

Honestly, many of the newer pics I've seen make this car look awesome--with one exception. I still haven't seen any pics to make the front look awesome to me. It looks alright, a couple of them make it look ugly--but nothing to make me say, "Wow".

I agree with stonefield. The front end still looks way too much like a Hyundai. If it had an I30 front end, with the waterfall grille, it would look super. With the split grille like the I30, there is a hint of BMW, with the twin kidneys. And screw the car magazines that say it looks like a Buick. Better to be a Buick than a Hyundai.

Okay. Look at the headlights. You might say they are similar but how?? Because they are big? Yes they are both big but the shape is totally different. The grille sizes are totally different and shape is a bit different too. The pillars are completely different. The Q has a more rakish A pillar and the C pillar is thicker. Lower body design is different too. The Q has 3 holes for the airdam and the Sonata has 1 big one. The Sonata has more lines in it by the window line and the Q has one crease. The window line is much higher than on the Sonata.

To me, the only true this thats alike is the thin peice of side molding in the middle of the door. If you look at the picture I took from Edmunds then you'll see they look nothing alike; only in that picture would you say they do. Im goning to try to post more pictures to further prove my point. HammerMan, great debate going on here.

Well the front still looks like Hyundai to me, for a few reasons. First, the headlights are pulled too far back like the Hyundai. While the I30 and S-class have a similar type of headlights, they are not as angular as the Q, where the headlights dig into the hood and fender areas. Another thing is that on the I30 and S-class, the grille doesn't stick out as much as the Q or any Hyundai, they are more flush with the lights. And the plain grille just looks ugly to me -- the waterfall grille looks elegant and sophisticated, and that would be a good message to convey. With the waterfall grille, the Q would have a similar design to the I30 -- an understated and simple front, with a flashy and mean rear end (especially with those twin pipes poking out). Blah, it is too hard to describe what is wrong with the Q's front end, but it just looks weird...

If anyone is good with Photoshop, could you maybe plant an I30 grille on the front end Q picture from nissannews.com, so we could see what it would like?

OK, me not good at Photoshop, and as you might notice, the grille is off the Australian Maxima, which looks about the same as the I30. But even with my substandard skills in photo editing, I still like it with the waterfall grille. Looks kinda like the S-class though, so I guess that automatically makes it a Lexus. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif

Since the grille is so much smaller, it makes the headlights look too big. It was a try carguy. the big grille makes it look more upper class than the I30 grille stuck on it.

On the contrary, i think that little photoshop edit gave the Q45 a much better look, that added with another modification (make the grille and lights flush with eachother as someone else already said) would make the Q45 look great.

Another gripe i have, the air dam
looks exacly like the 2000 Altima airdam = ugly. if somehow the airdam was smaller, like the S-class airdam...

One more thing, those 2 extra holes in the air dams, put very large fog lights in them.

Oh and another idea if the waterfall grille is impossible, then at least i have an idea on how to make the front look more coherent.
instead of a large hole as an airdam, give it a larger version of the Sentra's horizontal-barred airdam with the 2 holes still used as fog lights. let's not forget, chrome grille, no plastic please.

In ANY case if the fog lights are encased in the same glass as the rest of the front lights, that is a BIG MISTAKE. the fogs should be directly under and parallel to the headlights.

Other than that, the rear side view of the car is impeccable (hide tailpipes), the car has a really expensive look to it and i love the angle at which the back window descends.

perhaps the problem is not so much the grille as the headlights. instead of pulling back the grille to make it flush, push the headlights forward. that makes the car look longer and the slope of the hood wouldnt be soo dramatic.

all that said, that would be my ideal design, i know Infiniti will never change the design (until it's time)

furthermore infiniti needs a design theme.

now all 3 infiniti sedans look dramatically different to oneanother. that is a BIG MISTAKE. Maybe it's in infiniti's master plan to make all coming cars similar to the Q45, i hope, but if there is one thing to keep, it's the waterfall grille.

end rant

PS when i said the Q45 would look good as a convertible, i wasnt drunk http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif if anyone with photoshop can do the edit and post it, i would be very appreciative. just wanna see if i got the design flair... http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif

So far all I hear is make it look like and S-Class there, here, and everywhere. No more copy cat designs. f the grille was placed higher it would probably kill aerodynamics. Id write more but Im off to my first day of school. YIPPEE!!! (not)

Honestly, that photoshopped pic with the waterfall grill looks better. What would really make it look good is if that waterfall grill was just a bit larger--then it'd fit more with the rest of the car. Then, the I30, G20, and Q45 would have brand identity. With good ads and marketing, people will know it is an Infiniti. I heard the reason for getting rid of the waterfall grill is because no one could tell it was an Infiniti. Well, look at Lincoln, it is hard to see their logo on their grill (which is similar to the waterfall grill), however it is easy to recognize a Lincoln. Good marketing and advertising and a good brand identity. Infiniti just needs to do the same.

well as far as i have read in the Car magazines, they seem to like the Hyundai's styling over Camcord's boring looks. so even though it does look like a Hyundai, i dont think that makes it an ugly looking vehicle. But the styling of any vehicle depends on individual taste. some might love it, some might find it ugly. so i think we should wait and see how the public and car magazines react to it.

The Q's new grille is the style of grille that will be on future Infinitis. Thas why they didnt make it with a waterfall grille because this grille is starting the trend for Infinitis...grille style wise. Its in Orbes's speech. Hey I don't care what "Orbes said", because he mostly likely will not be driving one...

If they come out with that Hyundai grill, and abandon the "waterfall grill", they will pay for it and lose what little loyalist they still have....simple things as lack of consistency, like changing a grill can spell your doom..eg Mazda their entire line and the especially the 929.

How many luxury lines, Lexus, BMW, Mercedes Benz, have gone thru the trouble of branding themselves, and then abandon it. Infiniti has a had a tough time in the market from its day one, playing the role of Cinderella to the automobile luxury line market, but it was evolutionary process, and they had failures, but they have also made some advances, (people know who they are), where other have none and so I can't understand now why they want to throw it all away. All that they have accomplished in over ten years.

Do not underestimate the power of a brand, because it could be the last mistake one could ever make.

Love the headlights, they need not be changed. The Grille I agree needs to be smaller...and the front bumper needs reshaped, does look a bit hyundai-ish.

Funny how a car born wih NO grille now has a cow catcher one!

The aft veiw af the car is just gorgeous! Great job on the rear quarters!

I cannot wait to see one and drive one... The current Q, I never had any interest in...I hope this upcoming Q brings back the desire I had for the 1st generation Q.
