Can I spray the engine with water?

can i spray the engine of my g20. i'm gonna detail the car this weekend. has anyone ever sprayed their engine?

i have a friend who sprayed his civic and it wouldn't start until the engine dried up.

any help is appreciated, thanks.

Just be sure to cover all the electrical parts with plastic or something... and use a degreaser for the engine block and other junk in there
