Remember the official statement about Infinitis will no longer be rebadged U.S. Nissans. How does that factor in to the full-size SUV? Will the Infiniti SUV and Nissan SUV be two different vehicles or will the Infiniti be a dressed up Nissan? This is one area where rebadging is quite normal ie: LX470, Escalade, Aviator, Navigator. According to the model matrix, the full-size SUV is supposed to be announced at the NYIAS, but that could be wrong.

That's an interesting point that I have wondered about also. Even if they are made to be different, how much different can they really be? Would it really be worth it to make them on 2 different platforms or different engines, etc. This is one place that probably benefits from sharing. If you think about it, the full size luxury SUVs always came out after the lower brand little brother:

Ford Expedition-->Lincoln Navigator
Yukon Denali-->Cadillac Escalade
Toyota LandCruiser-->Lexus LX470
and so on and so on

So I think that this is one segment that really isn't hurt at all by sharing with the little brother.

As far as the NY auto show, I doubt they'll say much of anything about either the Nissan or Infiniti full size SUV.

You're right, I read the matrix wrong. It said the full-size SUV was announced at the NYIAS in 2002, they are a year off, should be updated soon! I just hope Infiniti can bring something exciting and hopefully eco-friendly to the world of big SUVs. There are too many uninspiring, gas-guzzling SUVs on the road today without Nissan producing two more.
