Not sure if everyone has seen these yet. The rumors say the production model is going to look just about the same. I like it! images/icons/wink.gif

it looks pretty good so far, i wanna see it in person. the headlights seem small for infiniti since they have been so innovative with the g35 and q45 headlights.

I'm not too fond of the C-pillar, most SUVs have a D-pillar and this kinda forgoes that normality. Looks like it might be difficult to see. Seeing as Infiniti is trying to be as daring as BMW and Cadillac in its design, I have faith that they will tone it down a little for production and clean up the weirdness.
One thing I love about this car is the way the wheel fits so snuggly in the wheel well, almost better than BMW. I hope they continue this design trend.

With this coming out, there is no need for the Qx4 right? I think that sales for the I35 and Qx4 are going to slow down alot with both the "m45" and fx45 coming out so soon. Would you want to buy a car that is not going to be produced in a few months? Same situation with the g20's. Why would you buy a g20 right now knowing that they are no longer being produced. I personally love the Qx4 but because it could possibly be "dropped" i went with a g35. This is all just what i think though......

FX45 will be at least 40-45k, much more than the OX4. Hopefully the bring an FX35 to fit into the QX4 price slot.

I personally like the slanty headlights: I just hope that the design cues of the FX45 shows what the Infiniti design under the new design team of exec VP Mr.Nakamura is going...hopefully, I hope to see the M45 employ the similar design theme.
All in all, I like a lot of what I see: better than a Lexus.

Pretty soon people are going to start saying Infiniti copied the Porsche Cayanne images/icons/rolleyes.gif

Imop, from the pictures, this knocks the socks of the Porsche Cayanne. Hopefully, others think so as well. images/icons/wink.gif

I'd like to see something less car like in appearance, with more traditional SUV/Truck styling ques. To me it looks like a 12/10ths scale Santa Fe.

,My God, will that be the interior for the production model, too? Wicked stuff! images/icons/shocked.gif

Beautiful, but I've got a couple of [probably dumb] questions. Where do you turn up the volume for the stereo? Where do you set the cabin temperature? Where are all the normal doo-dads? Are they integrated into the touch screen?

Good question. Looks like we will have to wait until the production model arrives. images/icons/confused.gif

When it says it seats only four, is there a separation between the rear passangers or is there room for a person but no seatbelt?

2002 Q45 with tint: http://get.to/q45<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial[/img]It looks like a whole chunk of buttons are right below the cd player (audio stuff), but I'm still wondering about the cabin temp stuff. Usually there is some sort of nob that you press. Or maybe there should be two, even, considering that this car most definitely would have dual climate zones.

In the navi screen you can see the temp at the bottom as well as fan speeds for both sides. This must mean its a touchscrren climate control.

In Atlanta, at least, it qualifies at "ghetto." Not even ghetto-fabulous. Reminds me of the whomped up Escalades with 24" rims. Just too much......
I wonder what Infiniti's target market is? I don't forsee a lot of soccer moms and executive-types driving this thing.
I appreciate Infiniti for being more daring with their designs than Lexus and Acura, but this thing is just too over-the-top.

I like it, but for an "SUV". It's cargo space seems very, small. I may not do a lot of hauling of crap, but with dogs, kids (not me), toys, ... that's not a lot of room.
It's A&& images/icons/smile.gif needs to grow. Not a big bubble fat A&&, but a nice healthy rump images/icons/wink.gif

But X5 has so little cargo room its unbelievable. The FX45 will at least match the X5's cargo room. And the X5 sells like crazy so I guess there are many people who can justify the lack of room.

The FX45 is a stylish, V8-powered performance SUV that Infiniti can - and will - build. Current timing for the production version FX45 is early 2003 and will be added to the lineup as a 2004 model in fall of 2003.
While the production FX45 will be considered by buyers in the same shopping set as the BMW X5, Lexus RX300 and Mercedes ML, it is designed to stand out, rather than blend in. Infiniti is confident the market will enthusiastically respond to this beautiful new vehicle.
The FX45 is not an SUV, its a crossover SUV/ Sports Sedan. It is a high performance seadan with the capabilities of an SUV because of its AWD. This car is going to replace the QX4. This car is going to start around $45,000.
They will also come out with a FX35 that is the same as the FX45 just that it is going to have a V6 with 3.5L engine most likely the same engine that the I35 has.
When the FX45 was at the Auto Show in Chicago, I sat in it and it is roomy. This years concept is 96% finished from the outside and 60-70% finished from the inside. Most likely the four seat will go into production. images/icons/wink.gif

i really agree that the rear needs to be extended, the roofline should definately not slump down like tha...the rear quarter window should definately not be so small, and if u look at the car directly from the back there is a curve in the rear window....looks like it was a mistake, the rearview window should run straight...and the ass does need to grow...front lights alittle bigger, love the wheels, a little higher off floor, a little less curve in the hood, and more compact rear lights, however inproportion so they are bigger but still look the same...i would definately buy it then...lol... images/icons/tongue.gif images/icons/tongue.gif

Could someone quickly explain to me the difference between a "C" and "D" (or was it "B") pillar? Meaning... "Where are they"? I see them referenced in a bunch of posts regarding car design, especially when discussing the FX45.
I am assuming that one separates the windows of the front and back door... So where is the other one? Which one is missing on the Mercedes Benz CL-class? Thanks.
Jason B
03-25-2002, 09:56 PM
They go in alphabetical order from front to back:
A,B,C,D
A is the front windshield.
Some cars lack B.
B is between the front door and back door.
Cars dont have a D, since cars end at C.
So, the CL class most likey is missing a B.
Hope that helps.

I have been surprised a couple of times to see an Escalade with shiny 24s pull up and a thirty-something mom with her 2 kids get out. It's almost a requirement here (especially in North Fulton) to be "sittin on dubs". Also, the nouveau riche are always looking for a distinct way to flaunt it and this car would sure do that.

I have a feeling the super-Moms don't care much about the rims, but it's probably the family hauler that Dad drives on weekends.
One thing that's sure to kill the economy is the fact that throwing money around is all of a sudden so tacky and tasteless. I think people will get over themselves soon enough. There are too many people in Atlanta making six figures and pretty soon a lot of them will be found out.

Hey, has anyone noticed that the LCD display shows a car emerging from a halo?
Is that some kind of teleportation device? If so, it will be a major selling point! LOL
