Thanks for providing a very informative interview. I'd heard a rumor that Nissan sponsored Wiley Timbrook's SSB Maxima, neither a sports car or sports coupe. Perhaps that was a one off but as a Nissan Maxima campaigner it was gratifying to read that the Maxima grabbed first and second in consecutive races. Sports Car's August 1999 page 42 photo of the # 22 Maxima chasing down the Miata entering a right hander is awesome. By the way, the same issue talks to "Sports Cars for the New Millennium", these are the guys the # 40 Street Touring Maxima competes against, Prelude, Integra, Civic, Z24, Neon and others.

Sorry, scratch the Wiley Timbrook rumor, I incorrectly quoted my source. The rumor is that Chad Melnik with Track Time in Northern Ohio was sponsored by Nissan in SCCA SSB Club Racing. Timbrook's notoriety stemmed from coverage in SCCA's Sports Car magazine. Either way, I'm very impressed any efforts to campaign the Nissan Maxima in a competition forum. Good job, Chad, Wiley and Nissan - Let's go kick some asphalt... DRIVEN!

Fourth Generation, 1999 I think. Of course that was last year. I've heard nothing about this season's participation. I'm personally focused on the Autocross side of SCCA and only know of Club Racing through what I read in SportsCar.

Its great to see the interest in the Maxima running SSB. I was campaigning a 1996 SE.
Great straight-line speed a little soft in the corners, just needs a little help from SCCA to be at the front for the run-offs. Nissan has been astounding in their club efforts. We need to get back to the 240 SX domination, 95,96,97.
I switched to 125 shifter karts, waiting for the next Nissan go around. Good luck to Wiley and all my competitors.
