This year's Dakar rally, scheduled to start December 28, has the usual Nissan entries from Team Dessoude and Dessoude Nissan Motorsports. Between them, this French team has 9 entries in the Super-production category consisting of the Navara/Frontier pickup, Terrano/Pathfinder, and Patrol. They will be joined by 5 entries from Team Nissan Techno Sport running the Navara/Frontier pickup.

Thanks for the info Rainmeister. I was hopeing someone else on here was interested in one of the greatest races on the planet.
I've already started making plans to compete sometime in the next 3-5 years with two Pathfinder teams. If you've got any recommendations or advice, I'd love to hear it.
BTW, do you know what the impetus was for the major rule changes this year? I love the simplicity...just curious if there was some specific reason the organizers went this route.
Thanks again,

Running a Dakar team sounds like just the medicine for some of us couch potatoes! Were it not for family commitments, I'd join in a nano-second. If you need help on tips and preparation, you may want to contact Team Dessoude. Here's the link to their web site: [/URL]Team Dessoude Dakar (http://www.nissan-dessoude.com/dakar.asp)
Re: rules changes, are you refering specifically to their banishing GPS during some of the special stages? When you consider that they did away with aerial support last year, I believe the promoters are trying to go back to its roots, i.e., placing greater emphasis on human skills and less on money and technology. What a refreshing contrast with the state of affairs in Formula One or the WRC!

Again, thanks for the information.
Well, so far I've just got the wife so I'm thinking she can take an extended vacation in Paris while I run the rally with some of my friends!
cheers,
