Infiniti dominated the testing field today, as the first official pre-season begins, by the Cheever team finishing 1st and 3rd quickest. Robbie Buhl and team Dreyer and Reinbold didn't do that bad either posting a 5th quickest time in the afternoon testing. Slowest however was the other Infiniti powered team, as they were happy to get the car running at all.
Maybe things will turn around for the infiniti powerplant, and be the first foriegn company to win the league or Indy 500. Lets hope so, coz cash-hording Toyota will join the league in 2003...

www.indyracing.com (http://www.indyracing.com)<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial[/img]Believe it or not, Nissan wouldn't be the first foreign nameplate to win the Indy 500. Mercedes (1915, 1994), Maserati (1939-40), Peugeot (1913, 1916, 1919) and Cosworth (1978-87) have previously been to the winner's circle. It would be sweet however if they got there before Toyota and Honda.

As for Eddie Cheever's team, they are going to need one mighty Nissan motor from the TWR shops if they hope to keep pace with Penske this year. RM

But it could be the first foreign engine to win Indy 500 since the drastic rule changes and the launch of the IRL. And thats what I thought he was trying to say.
