Hey whats the best way to apply touch up paint to stone chips.

I followed the instructions on the touch up paint pen and it came out all f*cked up. images/icons/mad.gif Which leads me to my next question.

How would i be able to effectively remove the paint i put on and the clearcoat so that i can do it again or am i just screwed images/icons/confused.gif images/icons/shocked.gif

How long ago did you do the touch-up? you may have some luck with laquer thinner if its been less than a couple of days. Obviously go light on it. Might also try a clay bar or one of the many cleaner products designed to be used prior to waxing. If its been too long, the only thing left to do is a spot wet sand. Last resort kinda thing though. I use the touch-up paint from the dealer but also use a product called Langka. What that stuff does is smooths out the blob of touch-up paint so it blends to the surrounding surface. Used it a few times and you really can't tell where its been touched up. Neat stuff. Do a search, they have a web site but I don't remember it off-hand, sorry.

This looks like a great product guys - thanks for the link. I have a few chips in my wife's Pathfinder that I've resisted doing anything about because I figured I was more likely to mess it up worse than fix it. Seems pretty simple if their product works as advertised.

mrmatt - their web page says they do international orders!

With the touch up paint pen that Nissan sells, I've found it pretty much unusable. By the time you get some paint to the tip it becomes a giant blob that goes beyond the chip.
Some thing that has worked for me if to get a pin, yes a pin and dip it into some of the touchup paint and apply delicately. I'd suggest doing this in a well lit area indoors to prevent dust and other crap from getting in there. Let it settle for at least half an hour then apply the clear coat. You'll need a steady hand for this one!

I saw the guy at the body shop use the corner of a piece of paper. Came out great. When I used to use the little brush thing that the Nissan bottle comes with it came out like crap.
