How do I remove it from alloy rims? Is there a metal polish that anyone can recommend?

Which vehicle/wheels do you have? Where is the dust located? I ask because the insides of my Xterra wheels aren't coated and the dust has been galvinized to the aluminum there. Even wire wheel brush wouldn't take it off! Just gonna leave it til my wife dings them up some more and have them powder coated. I have had good luck with the P21S wheel cleaner. You might want to use the gel formula and let it sit for a couple hours to work the dust loose. Its usually a good rinse afterwards and even some pretty grungy wheels can look great. Hope this can help.

These are clear coated aluminum wheels. The clear coat may be worn off by now so I may have the same problem. I'll try the cleaner but that stuff won't scrub off in the least with car soap.

Staying on top of them is the best practice! Don't wait until they are "coated". Soap and water is the best solution I find and is safe on the clear coat of the wheels. Once you get them clean I would wax them just like you do the car. I find this keeps them somewhat cleaner and makes them ALOT easier to clean when I wash the car.

Of course I'm anal about my car and she gets washed once a week even though she is garaged every night! Staying on top of it is 90% of the battle!

Good luck!
