I washed my Silver Spec-V yesterday and as I was drying it off I noticed a lot of redish rust colored spots on my car. They were real small, more like dots, and they were only on the hood, roof, and trunk. So I got my washing mit back out and scrubbed them off. They came off easily but, I can't figure out what they are? They look like water spots but they are real small and I've never seen any that color. I did wash it in the shade and it was cool out, and I also wash, rinse, and dry the car as fast as I can so I don't know why I would be getting water spots. Does anyone know what they are and how I can prevent them from appearing next time?

I believe is rail dust. Claying your car paint should help. See here (http://www.autopia-carport.com/forums/showthread.php?s=e6c33a170c9b8824ab5f6b8a0e73261b& threadid=11031&highlight=rail+dust) for more info.

I have those all the time, but for me it is Redwood dropings. If you park under a redwood tree, or anywhere near one, you get these little red spots all over the top surfaces of your car. If you let these sit to long, they will actually stain the paint, but usually they just take a little more effort to scrub off.
