what's the deal with toyota and SUV's? SUV's must be like crack to those people cause it seems like they're constantly adding another SUV to their lineup every couple of months. i read they're adding the Toyota Highlander, which i believe is an RX300 with different styling. if they're gonna add another SUV, it should be a hybrid model, like i heard Ford was doing with the Escape (i think it's the escape).

at least Nissan hasn't been flooding the American market with those stinkin' land barges. i can forgive the Xterra because it actually has some unique qualities about it. also, people actually take their Xterras offroad, which is what they were made for. most other SUV's, especially Toyota SUV's, are used like huge station wagons.

i just had to let that out. one of my pet peeves are people who buy something (SUV's) then don't use them for what they're made for

It's only gonna stop when the government starts taxing SUVs at a higher rate than other vehicles. And with their huge popularity right, I don't see that happening... well, maybe if Al the environment Gore wins in November.

You beat me to it nsuguy http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum//images/icons/smile.gif I was just about to ask the same thing. Toyota seems to be filling every price gap they have in their SUV line-up and it's so stupid too because all their SUVS seem to have the same purpose. Someone tell me what the hell is the difference between the Land crusier and that dumb Sequoia besides a few more inches of room. Sheesh, talk about a bunch of crossovering pieces of crap. At least ford had the right mind to keep their SUV line-up straight. But Toyota, what are they thinking, how much money are prest to make. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum//images/icons/rolleyes.gif

have you heard that Porsche is making an SUV? that is just plain stupid in my opinion. Porsche has a long history of making high performance sports cars. I don't think they have any business making SUV's. I think it's gonna be a restyled VW SUV.

about the VW SUV, it looks like a VW jetta that's been lifted and had big tires added to it. it's almost as stupid looking as the Acura MDX

I agree with you 100% nsuguy. Even if they can make it perform like the X5, I don't think it's Porsche's job to make a SUV. They're known for sports cars, not sports trucks. Plus I've heard it'll be around $90,000. I just have one word, OUCH! http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum//images/icons/shocked.gif

Why does toyota think it's great to copy every other automaker in almost every aspect the latest of their evil doings is the mr2 spyder this is a copycat of mazda in function and porsche in design. Then theres the celica a complete cougar copycat. The upcoming sequoia, right on expeditions turf, tundra looks like they had a spy at dodge and ford. The LS430 did they have to copy cadilac so much. Echo looks like a regergitated focus. Highlander looks like the mountaineer concept and the only reason camry solara was created was to beat on accord coupe. They've even been on Nissan's turf too with there quad cab tacoma, upcoming corolla S and Z rival sports car. I could go on but I'm tired now. I just wish the consumer would do a little more research and find out how unoriginal toyota is. When the automakers fight back toyota is going to have a lot to handle, I hope they crush it

I agree with your Toyota view, but if a consummer sees 2 similar cars, one with better build quality (in many cases) with a name like Toyota, what do you expect?
That's why toyota is a genius company, it caters to the consummers' wishes. They say the Japanese copy everything from the Europeans and make it better and more affordable. I think there is much truth in that statement, and consummers profit from it, so in many ways it is a good thing. But yes, they are a tad unimaginative, but hey so is the general population http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum//images/icons/smile.gif

remember that looks are subjective and that one's opinions may differ from yours. there's always gonna be someone that disagrees with your styling preferences. as long as both can stay open minded, there's no need to take their comments to heart. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif

Toyota may have plagerized nearly everything they sell, but the RX300 was original.

SUV's are like crack to most manufacturers now, with SUV's sales growing still. Atleast the Japanese still build a better SUV than the Americans!

And yes, the Xterra is actually an extraordinary vehicle if you see it the way I do. The typical SUV owner wouldn't like it though.
