What do you guys think about this Mazda engineered entry into the small ute territory? I like it because it's not too big and offers a V6 engine. And it's somehow raised by the RX7 and Miata http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/wink.gif

That's what Mazda wants you to think but I think the Tribute is primarily a Ford designed/engineered product to get some compact SUV sales it's been loosing out to Xterra/CR-V/RAV4. From what I've read it's a good on-road vehicle but can't compare in the dirt to the Xterra.

It's neither fish nor fowl. Is it an suv? Or an oversized 626? Mazda should just pack it in and go home. The world does not need anymore Japanese car companies.

I think CRV and RAV4 are no match! If you cant tow, carry people and a load and think of going up a hill, youre not in the same class! http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif
But it aimes the Xterra. In Quebec sales could go a lot better, people need somthing rugged. Supply does not folow demand and the publicity "vacumes"(to be polite). People abandone the waite and buy something else that is trendy. I'm afraid that with the flop in this region it could affect all Quebec, seeing they refer this region(Saguenay, Chicoutimi) as having tough winters and if it makes it good here it's good for all Quebec. Here people know the reputation of the Patfinder but they also know Ford trucks. (where is the smilie for disapointement)

FORD ESCAPE AND MAZDA TRIBUTE SUVS RECALLED
Ford has recalled 1,300 of its new Escape small sport utility vehicles, and 625 of Mazda Tributes to fix steering wheel problems, according to Automotive News, an industry trade publication. Ford said it is replacing a steering wheel nut that can crack, causing the steering wheel to separate from the steering column. Ford began delivering 2001 Escapes to dealers July 24, but none were officially reported as sold in July. About 13 of the 1,300 were delivered to customers.

Finally had something right? What do you call RX-7 and MX-5?

RX-7 is a commercial flop here, and the Miata is a niche model, although the best selling sports car on the planet http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif

Because Mazda does things differently, that's why I always have a soft spot for this small company from Hiroshima http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif
Don't pin me as AntiMazda but they take forever to bring new products to the Market plus it seems like they give little effort to be a major player in the automotive world and thats why they're so small. All I know is Ford can't keep on feeding them forever.

Hey im a HUGE nissan fan, but there are some other great car companies out there, mazda being one of them. Mazda makes some of the best pure no nonsense sports cars (rx7/miata)something you cant say about the fat luxo Z32(even though I love them).
Since ford ownes most if not all of mazda you have to expect a lot of there products to be dull to you or me, but to say that no one wants to buy them is simply un true.
I would buy a 626 over a over a saturn LS any day of the week. I wouldn't be caught dead in that ugly thing. And I might even buy it over an accord or camry (but not a max)because it offers a 5spd with its v6.
