Renault influence has been minimal on the new Bluebird Sylphy:

"The Sylphy was too far along in the design process for ex-Renault executives to influence and officials, acknowledging it did not boast a revolutionary design, preferred to stress its attention to comfort and an environmentally friendly engine. "

sales goal:
" Nissan has set a monthly sales target of 3,000 vehicles, a somewhat modest goal when compared with 8,000 for rival Toyota Motor Corp's Corolla sedan, unveiled on Monday. "

when to expect a turnaround:
``It will be in 2002, with a lot of new products and a totally reorganised company that we should be able to regain some of the ground that we have been losing for so many years,'' he said.

Renault's influence on Q45 and others:
"Other Nissan models due out in the business year to next March include a new sports utility, a remodelled version of its luxury Q45 and a full model change for its Primera sedan -- with the amount of input from ex-Renault executives increasing with each model."

and this is the surprise of this fiscal year:
``The new Primera -- now that's going to be a surprise,'' said Patrick Pelata, executive vice president in charge of product planning.

Exactly. Maybe one factor delaying the Sylphy debut in japan is that they want to put the new QR20DD.

The less Renault influence, the better. But it would be even better if there are ZERO Renault influence http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif

I think they could really help in design. They make more angular vehicles and Nissan has made a lot of rounder cars. A merge of styles could really make something great! The new Q is awsome, Im sure the Z will be too and I am looking forward to the full size SUV, Altima, next Max, and basically every car in the near future.

I couldn't agree more, I think Renault does some excellent designs, especially the Sport Spider.

Nissan is only setting a modest target for the Slyphy because it already has other cars that are the same size e.g. Presea, Sunny that will also be competing with the Sylphy.
Toyota doesn't have that problem.
Plus the Sylphy was released months ago in other markets under the name of Pulsar or Sunny. Do you mean it only came out yesterday in Japan? We have had the Pulsar here in NZ for a couple of months now.
