i like boxy sedans. and to see this 2001 Skyline i think it just goes to show that a car doesn't have to be rounded to look good. But then, if Nissan brought this design over to the US, well it would be labeled, BLAND.

Its shape is kind of boxy but its lines arent. And they're not rounded either. I like that car and not because its a Nissan but because it has a look to it that speaks sportiness & refinement.

Skyline is not bland, its boxiness with personality.
Altima is more suitable to "bland" description if you are talking about Nissan.

yes, i dont get why that altima was even put into production. i think the 2000 US maxima should have had a front end like this skyline. i would have been drooling if that happened. or maybe the next one should....

the reason i say it would be bland is because every goddamn mag would say it is, C/D without a doubt. but then they would say an olds intrigue looks good...i dunno.

This is definitely not GT-R's interior, its 25GT sedan.

japanese nissans have really flat front ends which i don't think americans would care for. that Skyline is no exception, the front looks really flat like the Gloria and Cedric. the front of the altima and sentra actually look better in my opinion. it's the rear end of American Nissans that are ugly

I too wish some of Nissan's cars incorporated a few more design cues from the Skyline GTR.
I like to see a perfect blend of boxiness with curved lines. Oh well, more wishful thinking for me... One more thing, I dont like how the slots on the front bumper end in the middle creating that space for the licsence plate holder. Nissan's cars in Europe have split grilles [exactly] like that, and they are UGLY. I dont know what they're trying to do putting it on the skyline. I think they're trying to create some kind of brand identity, with the XVL featuring the same thing.

You know what, it's all a matter or taste. I myself hated volvo's which were the ultimate in boxiness, when they rounded off corners but still maintained the general 3-box pattern, somehow i now love the look of volvo's. Most european cars have that 3-box design. The nissan cars in NA (and even some in europe) are too egg-shaped according to me. They say its styled to "american taste", but if most americans don't like the styling why does nissan call it "american taste" in the 1st place?

Now another small issue: what hurts styling od a car more, a bad general shape (back half of altima) or ugly small details (maxima lights) ? (those were just examples and not my opinion on those 2 cars)

I love the boxiness of the skyline, boxiness (but rounded corners) gives all cars an aggressive look. that's the sweet spot i want.

Oh yes...the Maxima would look great with that front end. A new butt would be welcome too!

That dash reminds me of the old 240-280 Z's with the high mounted guages in the center like that. Very nice and sporty.

I still think the R32 Skyline was the best looking skyline of all, nissan hasn't made the R33 or R34 as successful as the R32.

Yep... I agree... although I think the R34 looks intimidating and aggressive, the R32 says I'm fast and sporty, yet doesn't look ricey...

This 2001 Skyline looks just like most of the Japanese sedans of the beginning of the 90-th!

Acura Vigor, 90-93 Accordion, third gen Maxima - all of them had similar noses. It's just that the design changes much slower in Japan ...
