I got my car serviced from Montclair Nissan and ever since then I have been getting bad gas mileage. Before the 60k service, I was told that I need to get the injectors cleaned, but I declined as I could not afford to spend another $130. Well before the service, I used to average 350-360 miles on a tank full but after the service I would be lucky to get 270 miles. What do you guys think they did or what is the problem with my car??? I was very dissappointed because I felt ripped off. I think these dealers eventully take advantage of the customers who begin to believe in them. Thanks for any suggestions.

i agree, i have also felt taken after getting service from a nissan dealer-performing unnecessary work, etc.(never again). i would try using the fuel injector cleaners that you can add to your gas tank from stp or whoever, cost maybe $5.

Actually, yes some of the injector cleaners work. I use the Cheveron w/techron cleaner, it works for me.
--About the dealer thing, I take mine to Barwick Nissan down in San Juan Capistrano, and they're totally upfront and honest (It doesn't hurt that my neighbor is lease manager there), but still the overall service is awesome. Give them a try next time (Yes. I know its a drive from montclair.)

Well as many of you remember, I was having terrible Gas average. I have tried Valvoline Injector cleaner for $4 from pepboys with a tank full of 92 octane Chevron with Techron. Through that tank my mileage has increased to 320 miles. Very surprising as this got me up another 50 miles from before. I am using this set up again and will post results soon again. I noticed that my exhaust is rusting and the outer shell has a 6 inch by 1 inch crack. Is this anything to worry about??????
If I must replace my exhaust, Which should I get because I will be going Turbo next year.
Thanks again to every one for helping me out.

Obviously they turned down the secret mileage adjusting screw, to get you back in for as much unneeded work as they can squeeze out of you. They do this because dealers like unhappy customers, since they are so much easier to deal with than the happy ones. Every heard of winter blend fuel, and its lower BTU level??

Why would they have lower BTU gasoline in September of '01? http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif
