Last night I took a look at the new Altima. Stopped at three Nissan dealers. Here are a couple of the humourous things they said:
1) When asking how long until they get a 5 spd V6 in, he says "it's a 6 spd and it's delayed 'til October". I said: "I think you're thinking about the Max, the Altima is a 5 Spd." He said:
"Nope, they've decided to put the 6 spd in the Altima too."
2) At another dealer we popped the hood on an Altima 4-banger. I said: "It certainly has the appearance of a more sophisticated engine than the old Altima engine" He said:
"Actually it's really a Maxima engine."
You gotta have a sense of humour when you talk to these guys - otherwise they'll drive you nuts ...Altimax

Where the hell do they get these idiots from, all of us on this forum know more than these morons and our jobs, unlike them, don't even depend on the knowledge. Don't they go through a screening or something once in a while? images/icons/confused.gif
It's probably not going to happen but I hope by the time the new Z arrives that they get their acts together and be more professional at the dealerships. I wish Nissan dealers could be more like Infiniti dealers. They worship a customer when he or she walks in.

I bet he's just playin' you like a fool. He probably was just saying that crap to lure you in for a sale. Make it sound more appealing so to speak. To the average Joe, any engine could be a Maxima engine.

I think the point that altimax was making was that these sales people come across as morons. Even if they are saying thing 2 make the car seem more appealing... to the enthusiest, who we all are he looks like a dumba$$, to the average joe.... when joe looks at a maxima and sees no 4 Cyl engine, that salesmen looks like a total a$$ and a liar, and who wants 2 bet joe might go look at an accord or a camary. Nissan's dealers are a pretty weak point. What i Hope will happen with the new Z when it comes out..is Nissan will focus on the dealers who DO know about the car, and let the stragglers who cant hack it cry about not getting the cars. Saying false information is NOT going 2 increase business, its really really gonna hurt in the long run. Nissan you need 2 get these guys in shape. On the plus side however i have been talkin 2 a few sales people that are very knowledgable, and are actualy receptive 2 my input on things that they were wrong about. it's late... why am i up, and why are you reading this? images/icons/grin.gif

Actually, we are all not like your previous salesman. And guys like that are everywhere, not just nissan. Better yet, why don't you quiz me?
