I was just thinking about this, why dont you ever see any VR4's with any performance mod's. You would think it would be a perfect car for mods, turbo with 320hp and AWD. I know its FAT, but that doesnt stop people who drive supra's, Z32's or Skylines.

Because it sucks! Besides, Mitsubishi's arent exactly shining pillars of quality anyway.

Seriously though, they're not really an exciting car to drive. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

I dont see very many 3000 gt's around period. Only a few times a month. It wasn't the best seller either.

I see tons of 3000 GT's, but not many are VR4's. My friend had a v4, it was quite fast, until he wrecked it. The quality didn't seem that bad on his.

I wonder if quality control is the only issue. From the Numbers it sounds like a great platform much better than say a Z32tt. Awd TT and 320hp to start. The V6 is mounted horizontal isn't it? Its gotta be hard to work on the Turbo's.

quality must not have been the issue, considering that the turbo eclipses were popular to tune. i'm guessing weight, price (leading to low sales and a small aftermarket), and other factors had to do with it. it might not have been as well balanced as a Skyline GT-R (which has similar technologies). just my guess

It had a lot more to do with price, and the fact that it's competitors were just that much more fun to drive.

thanx for the link, since I've posted this topic I've been around to a few gto/3000 sites. It looks like they can be tuned pretty well. check out www.3000gt.org (http://www.3000gt.org)
