Guys,
I am in the midst of designing a content management system for FreshAlloy.com and was wondering we were to redesign the forums what kind of features would you like to see. Also What kind of new catagories would you like to see. Your feedback will help make FreshAlloy.com a batter place.

Thanks as always for your support.

Someone on the 240SX board wanted a Classified forum board...

I still don't have any luck w/ the search feature. If I put in the title of the topic, it will never find it.

I will have the adminstrator look into the search feature.

A feature that takes you to the latest post.

A feature that notifies you via e-mail whenever anyone replies to a thread that you have participated in.

Main page should fit on screen without having to scroll, and it should contain buttons to directly access every section and subsection.

More logical organization of sections. For example, why are the model matrix, engine catalog and web links all under the "Interviews" button?

Make web links more prominent and create more sub-headings for Nissan-related web links (I've got a ton to share); e.g., "History", "Racing", "Clubs", "News", "Reviews", "Scale Models", "Catalogs", etc.

Do away with the unwieldy landscape format of feature articles. Just as with the larger "Life" magazine format that R&T and Automobile Mag have adopted, this is an answer to a question noone asked.

Someone else has already mentioned, but an enthusiast site should always contain a classified section so members can trade, buy and sell.

Nissan News older than a month should be listed by headline only to make for easier access (As you can tell, I hate scrolling). This section should also have web links to all recent Nissan-related news articles.

The search engine doesn't work.

Better layout for forum section, subsection and files; again, too much scrolling required.

How's that for starters?! images/icons/wink.gif RM

Thanks for the reply.. All your points are valid ones. This is the type of problems one runs into when you buy an off the shelf product. Feedback like this makes us aware so when we do decide to upgrade we take these things into account. keep them coming and we can see how we fare on our next revision.

on a side note, ever since "Car Lounge" was moved down to the bottom of the page, there have not been as many posts and topics in that forum

dont know if anyone else noticed that...

Check www.i-club.com (http://www.i-club.com) and copy them. There's a lot more organization there and it's very easy to navigate, not to mention that it has a lot more functions too.

I noticed too, people seem to use Off Topic for all Car Lounge related topics now. images/icons/frown.gif

FreshAlloy is already a great site as it is, but there are a few things that would make it even better. First of all the whole site needs a re-design especially the main menu...also a new color scheme should spice things up, a picture upload capability, also if you could add a survey feature to the boards like some other forums that would be great, more content is also needed perhaps car of the week or member profile anything of that sort would be great, and finally I think you should add a spy-shots subject doesn't neccessarily have to be Nissan related just spy-shots found on the net.

Thanks Blazin..
As a matter of fact we have been hard at work on a site residign that will come out shortlty (No frames finally). The car of the week is a great idea.. As for the spy shots topic in the forum. That should be a easy task to do.. Let me ask this to you.. Would you be interested in moderating the topic?

I think you can reduce the number of forums so it's not so cluttered, down to Nissan News, Car Lounge, Dealer Experiences, Technical forum, and Off Topic. Then have topics for each current vehicle Sentra, Altima, Maxima, Pathfinder, Xterra, G35, I35, Q45, etc. Users can always create new topics within another forum to replace any lost forum.

It would be nice if the most recently active forums moved to the top, but a fixed format like it is now is ok.

Availability: The main problem with this site is when it is down for extended periods. Lately it has been up and running though.
