Importing automobiles from the UK, NZ & AU to CAN/US...

I don't know what it takes to bring a car into Canada, but it's rather tough (read: usually not worth the effort) to bring one into the US that hasn't been certified by the US government for sale here.

Does anyone know how the process of importing a car from the UK, New Zealand or Australia to Canada or the States really goes? I was curious cause across seas they have really nice (and sometimes rare) automobiles that are not offered to North American consumers. Any links or sucess stories would be much appreciated.
