well boys and girls , i need help. a friend of mine recently got a nice sum of money , and so he went and bought a brand new rsx type s, the paht *** blue color with the optional honda spoilers. that was a 2 months ago , now once again he is broke , and now he wants to sell his new car , but he offered to trade me for my car plus $7000. this car is real sik ! for those who dont know , i have a silver s14 with a black top in it ,and it is pretty pimp , but i am serously considering making this trade. half my friend say i would stupid to do it , the other half say i would be stupid not to (a 95+ 7k for a new car ). what do you guys think ??

I think your stupid to sell your car. Think its more powerful than the RSX and is RWD. I think those two alone sell themselves. Your getting riped off in the long run.

Keep your car dude, for sure.

If you do trade we'll never let you live down the FWD mistake.

well, is his car payed off or something? If it and your trading up then why not do it? Make a quick buck-- sell the RSXS and get another 240.

well, i wanted honest opinions. every body here alway gripes when some one gets on here and tries to sell ther car for any where near what thay have invested ," you dont do it to get your money out of it ",here i have the chance to get almost what i have in it , and i got to build it,drive around in it , AND BEAT THE LIVING **** OUT IT EVERYDAY OF ITS LIFE ! this car was great , and i loved every day of driving it. but god dam folks , i get to trade my beat *** 95 240 for a BRAND NEW CAR ! FUC IF ITS A HONDA , its brand new , and worth way more than my s14 with $7000 sitting under my seat. i have had a 240 sx since 93 , and i will still continue to own a 240 , i could build an s13 with an sr real cheap , and i wont feel so bad beating the hell out of one of those, but this rsx would be a real nice daily driver car. i didn t say i was selling out, i was just thinking about cashing while i still can. would you do any differnt?? besides , my boy in japan said that the rsx's over there are doing like 220hp at the wheel with just bolt ons ! that pretty phat !

true, well you know what you are gonna do regardless of what we say, so go for it if your gut feeling is sell. Hell, i wouldnt mind driving a brand new car with A/C.. mmmm A/C.....

then get your S13 and do like what Zenitani did and make it a RBS13.. twin GT3037's 1000+ps.....

220hp at the wheel with just bolt-ons? Ill believe that when I see it. What do they put to the ground stock...170?

well, if i were in a position to trade for the rsx as a daily driver and still be able to get an s13 with an sr, i would do it. but, if i were to only get the rsx, i wouldnt do it.

I'm sorry, but this is more about the RSX and why you should/should not get it than the 240SX.

I am moving this to the Car Lounge.

Well...I say this...if you can turn around immediately and sell the RSX for 17-19 and keep the 7k...oh man...you could re-do your project over and get an S14 and put in the S14 Blacktop again...and get a nice turbo, nice wheels, nice body kit(if that's what you want), and all the goodies you could imagine since at minimum you would have $24k to play w/

I say sell if you can get a big gain on the RSX

I think some of you are misunderstanding. He will have to pay his friend $7k to make the trade.

You'll have to find out what the fair market value of a '95 240SX is and add the cost of doing an SR swap. Add $7k to that and ask yourself if you would buy an RSX at that price.

Just estimating costs, it looks to be roughly a fair trade, financially speaking. If so, it comes down to which car you would rather have and how big of a hole that $7k is burning in your pocket.

Well its your car and your money, so you can do whatever you want. The RSX is not all that bad, its just an Acura(Honda) and not really something most 240SX guys would trade their car for.

In my opinion I think you should only buy the RSX if you want something new and more up to date. They are starting to get popular and so is the aftermarket for this car. Having a new car is always better than an old car, unless that old car has numerous mods done to it.

You should only keep your 240SX if you want a car that is rare and not that popular, but has the potential to make good numbers. Swapping your engine is pretty close to getting a new car (most people would think), but you never know what that engine has gone through or how much $$$ you need for maintenance.

Either way you go your probably going to spend lots of money. But if you get the RSX, don't post a thread about how you miss your car.

I have more to say, but I forgot what to type. images/icons/confused.gif

The only car I would trade my '95 240SX for is a WRX STi.

a new car is usually a better daily driver than an older car (especially with high miles)...you need reliability and safety...newer cars have better safety systems and options...a daily driver also needs to be a good all weather car...fwd is a much better platform in the snow and ice where most of the weight is over the front wheels in front engine car formats...it is definitely better than rwd...however awd is even better

the swap sounds like a good deal...rsx has been getting a good aftermarket support system...and its a honda...(though most hate them here)...honda makes good cars and it is an honest company (most don't care but you'll get good gas mileage and a low emission vehicle...make you feel a little green)

Actually, the RSX with minor bolt ons will make in the neighborhood of 180ish.The 220whp you are refering to would have to be the Integra R model over there.

I would do whatever is most profitable for you.If you could give him $7g's and sell the RSX and turn a profit i would do it.With the profit you make you could build another car.
