has anyone tried making one? i'm serious planning it out right now, but i'm running into a lot of idea problems... so if anyone has experience doing it... share some info please.

Have you looked to see if there are any already made panels? I don't know if they have a website, but Q Forms comes to mind. I think Crutchfield carries their panels.
