For anyone who is interested, I think I have made my final decision on all my components for the Xterra. In the next few weeks, I will be ordering and installing these components, taking pictures, and will eventually have some information for others interested in upgrading the lousy factory system in the Xterra. So, without further delay, I will now reveal the final list of components:

Nakamichi CD-45z tuner/CD head unit.
Nakamichi MB-70 6 disc in-dash changer.
Alpine MRP-F356 30Wx4 amplifier.
Alpine MRP-T406 40Wx2 (running 120W mono) amplifier.
Diamond Audio HEX S500S 5-1/4" seperates up front.
Boston Acoustics RX-97 6x9 speakers in cargo area.
Image Dynamics IDQ10 10" subwoofer.

So, that's the latest list. Everything except the subwoofer will be installed out of the way (in-dash changer, amps under seats), keeping the cargo area mostly clear. The sub requires a very small box, which will be mounted against the left rear seat.

Can't wait! http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif

Are you planning on installing any Dynamat or similar sound damping materials?

I am installing dynamat, but mainly just in the areas around where the speakers are. The front doors will be fairly well covered with standard dynamat where I can reach, and the heavier dynamat in the area right around the speaker. I used the heavier stuff int he back too around the speakers. All the wiring, fuse blocks, signal cables, etc are high end Phoenix Gold. I have a 4 guage fused line to a fused distribution block that splits into two 8 guage wires (one to each amplifier. Both amplifiers will also be grounded with 8 guage wiring. I will include a link to my photos of what I've done so far. You'll have to kind of search through, as they are not in any order, nor are they seperated from other pictures. When everything is done, I'll have a photo group for stereo upgrades only.
