I'm not an audio expert but I'd like a pretty cool set up. I don't really want a highend system, but definately not crap! I like the Sony line mainly because it fits my color scheme of red, white and black http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif

Just want to know what's the opinion on the Xplod line of amps, subs, mids, components etc..

Im by no means a audio expert but since no one is posting...i hate the new sony line. i've always looked at sony as a good company but i've seen soo many problems with the new speakers and head units. especially the new speakers which have a horrible midrange that distorts at low volume. I heard the amps are alright though. Im happy with my kenwood.

I've been a big Sony fan ever since I was a kid. Almost everything thing I own is a Sony. I like the way they look and perform.

Awhile ago I thought the Sony mobile line looked pretty good. Especially the ES models.
But as of right now I am really disappointed with the Xplod line. The color just doesn't appeal to me. My friend had an Xplod cd player in his car and it didn't really live up to the Sony name. First off, I could hear a hissing noise when you turn down the volume all the way. Then the cd skips when you going over a big bump. I was like "wtf, aren't cd players of today suppose to come with a skip-free technology or something?"

Don't get me wrong. I still love Sony but I hope they change their looks real soon or I will have to go to another brand when it's time to change my speakers on my 98 Maxima.

sony's car audio is ok, more of a mass market product for best buy and circuit city. i don't see myself buying any car audio from them too soon.

I have a CDX-M620 (i think thats the name) and I have no problems with it. Its a very nice system, altough the graphics while the face is up should have been much better. I like the ports and the amount of power this headunit has. The color scheme for Sony Xplod is rather ugly, but with this unit its more black, sliver, with blue lighting and very little red accents (lighting and letters). The lighting fits my reverse guages (blue with red accents)...which seems to impress whoever http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/wink.gif . There are only a couple of headunits I like better than mine. Yet the cost atleast $150+ more.

Sony speakers are rather weak, but I have infinity's in my car which are good if your into more clarity with just enough bass. There amps are ok, but I like Fosgate (for one sub) and Kenwood (for more then one sub). As for the subs, i dunno much but I don't like them.

i have a whole sony system (except speakers) and it sounds pretty good. i have a sony xlpod cdx-m730 head unit, 760 watt 2 channel amp, and 2 sony xlpod 12" subs. it sound good at low to medium levels but it is kind of ditorted at high levels so dont get them if u are looking for loud bass. they are nice to listen to and the whole system together looks tight with the same red and black color scheme.

My TV in my house is a SONY, they have great video!

Audio, is a whole other game, it is only so-so. I worked for Sony Professional for a while and even their high-end audio (DAT recorders, mixers, mics, etc) had a ton of problems with failing right after the warranty period ended.

I will not by any Sony audio products (okay maybe a hand held cassette recorder -- you know the one with a little 3" speaker built in that records in mono -- but that is it).
