View Full Version : Bazooka Subwoofers

I'm thinking about adding a subwoofer to one of my cars, an Integra hatchback with a factory 6-speaker stereo. It sounds good right now but needs a little more bass to even out the sound. I don't need to rock the neighborhood--my radio's usually set on NPR--but a little more bass would be nice for those in-between times when Bob Edwards isn't talking.

Browsing through my Crutchfield catalog, a Bazooka subwoofer seems pretty good. It's supposed to give big bass from a not-so-big package; it should also be easy to remove when I need all the hatch space for luggage.

Does anyone have experience with Bazookas? Which size do you think would be best for my application: 6 1/2" or 8" or 10"? Does the powered Bazooka sound good, or should I settle on an unpowered model and buy the amplifier separate? Or would I be better off making a custom hatch box (I'm an amateur carpenter) and forgo the Bazooka altogether?

P.S.: I'd post this on a Honda/Acura forum but there's too many juvenile opinions there. FreshAlloy seems to attract a better breed. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif
