I have a 1990 240sx fastback. The factory audio system isn't kickin' it any more. I have put in a JVC Cd player. I now have two Blaupunkt 4x6, two Infinity Kappa 4x6, and two Kenwood 12" speakers. The Infinity Kappas don't sound good. I have all these speakers running off one 600watt amp. I got the four 4x6 running on two channels. I was wondering can i fit some 5x7 or larger speakers in the door and rear shelf openings. The 4x6 speakers aren't good enough and the two 12" speakers are two big for the trunk. I want more bass from the 4 factory located speakers. The two 12" speakers are going back to the store. They are too big and make the trunk rattle. Basically i want my system to sound like the Bose system in a 2K Maxima.

wow, not many replys to your question. That sux, hopefully u get this. I would reccomend some sony or bose speakers, i'm not sure if u can go larger than 4x9. i'm running 2 200watt audiovox speaker sets in my fasstback with no rattle. Each one has a subwoofer, a woofer and a tweeter, not a bad set for $60. I dont have a amp yet but i hope to get one. I replaced all my speakers with sony X-plod speakers and even with only 45 watts going to them they sound good. I would go to a car audio store for more help

check out www.firmracing.org. (http://www.firmracing.org.) On that site their is a simple procedure to switch to 6.5" speakers in the doors. But I may have read on the mailing list that this mod may actually decrease the bass response because it doesn't seal off the back of the speaker? I'm not much an audiophile, yet. So research that for yourself, but it is possible.
