I own a 1997 Sentra, and just installed a Kenwood Execlon KDC-X717. The CD player is awesome, but the only gripe is that I can not get a decent radio reception, like I was able to with the factory head unit, any suggestions? Thanks!

You get worse reception with the kenwood? Did you hook everything up correct? There are radio amplifiers you can buy but ive never tried one & dont know how well it works.

I'm pretty sure I hooked everything up correctly, I followed the diy instructions from installdr.com, and my friend helped me put it in. I'm not sure if I'm willing to drop some more money, I mean 366 is a lot, and I would expect that with that I should be able to get reception from Mexico! (I live in Southern California). I'll double check my install, tho. Thanks again for the advice, Meeks.

Those things arent that expensive, like $30 or so. You paid $366? I thought I posted a few sites awhile back & you found it for like $280.

Yeah, when my dad called them (It ended up being a birthday present), they did not have it in stock, and it would be like 6 weeks before their next shipment, et cetera. So he got it from millionbuy.com. I still love my Kenwood

I have the exact same head unit as you do.. installed in a 95 240. The previous owner broke the power antenna so it was replaced with a tall non adjusting silver antenna which worked GREAT with the x717... but when i installed my new short black antenna (with signal amp on line), the signal turned to ****. But I completely blame the Pep Boys antenna for that images/icons/grin.gif It worked great prior. Works out fine since I listen to CD's mostly..

sometimes when you're pushing the radio back in the dash the antenna plugs falls out. if you can reach your arm up behind the dash without taking the radio out, just do that.

On the antenna topic, does anyone know which wire colors do I connect to the antenna turn on wire from the deck? I have a 95 240.

Meeks, check installdr.com, they (I think) have wiring diagrams for almost all cars. Thats what I went by on installing the head unit.

That sounds like something I would do images/icons/wink.gif . I'll deal with that tomorrow after school. Installing the head unit in my sentra was not as ***bersome as my buddy's 2k1 civic...but go figure...its a Honda. Thanks again!!
