This is just great, this means that I get to ask what the best set of tires for the SE-R spec V will be if say i get:

- One set of 17s for the summer
- One set of 16s for the winter

The reason for this is that I saw a show on tv where they were working on a truck and they had to choose an specific tire/rim combo because they said that the combo actually affects the gearing ratio.

Is this true? So, how do I know that I am choosing the right combination?

Hello and Welcome Tire Rack, I have a Q 4 U!

I have a 1995 200 SX (w/ factory 14 inch wheels currently). I have been told by some people that I can only have 15's on it max, but some have said "Sure, put some 17's or 18's on that bad boy"?? Do you know what the maximum wheel size I can put on it? Thanks1

You can put whatever you want on it.
Whether you are going for rice or considering the real aspect for the vehicle.
Dependant on what tire size is stock/optional and the OFFSET of your rim/wheel. A reasonable 16" with
compensated OFFSET and width can be achieved without throwing off the "setup" and improve handling.
NOW let's see what Tire Rack says!!
The site is impressive, as it helped me see new info. Tire tech changes quite readily in todays technology.
YET, basics are basics..

P.S.S. repost your factory tire size and optional that is in the book/sticker of the vehicle.
It will help Tire Rack and others give you a better definitive answer...

I am a retired dealer who catered to customers similar to our group here. Consequently I have purchased hundereds of wheels and tires from the Tire Rack. Through experience I highly recommend the Tire Rack and am glad to see that they are supporting this forum.

I have bought 2 sets of tires and one set of wheels already from Tire Rack... I reccommend them highly. Saved me lots of dough compared to my local shops. And they have answers to your questions, much unlike MY local shops that are run by Goober from Mayberry... Thanks Tire Rack!

Hehe, just playing hardball... Of all the times that I called about wheels, all their recommendation/fitment is wrong!!! For some reason they don't think/believe that 235/45-17 on 17x8+35mm (front) and 255/40-17 on 17x9+38mm is proper fitment for the 240SX... Sheesh, the fitment size that wrote is what Nissan Motorsport International recommends for the S14 240sX...

[Yes, 18's will work fine, you'll need to use the 215/35-18 tire size but it'll work.

If I go with the Q, I might have to lease it, so hopefully they'll allow me to do minor stuff like changing wheels...

Or I'll just change them, and then change it back when I turn in the car... http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif
