I've got a Spec V coming in at the end of December and will need winter tires and wheels for it. Just wondering what the best/most cost effective solution is. I would still like a sportier looking tire (not 185's or anything really skinny). But at the same time, I still need a tire with an aggressive tire that's best suited for deep snow and ice.
Any suggestions?

i got a good solution for you
get some steel rims, hub caps and dedicated winter tires for your car, i have done the calculation, its cheaper down the road AND your mags won't be destroyed by the salt and snow after a few years.
the Spec V has 215/45/17 tires
since 17 inch steel rims are rare AND higher profile is better for deep snow, we will change your rim/tires size combo
you should look into getting 205/60/15 tires with 15" steel rims
a winter tire search at www.tirerack.com (http://www.tirerack.com) will give u the following results for that size:
Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 = excellent winter tire, medium price, QR speed rated
Dunlop Wintersport M2 = great winter tire, higher price, HR speed rated
GoodYear Ultragrip ICE = excellent snow and ice tire, medium price, QR speed rated
Michelin Arctic Alpin = like Blizzaks, but with less noise, Blizzaks are better for snow
Michelin Pilot Alpin = Great for snow, higher price, HR speed rating, good dry traction
QR speed rating means you shouldnt go faster than 160 KPH
HR, which is sportier is 210 KPH
personally, i would go for the HR tires, namely the Pilot Alpins, its gonna be approximately 150$C more expensive for the set
if you do not want to spend that much, the Blizzaks are my next choice, but dry handling will not be as good.
hope this helps

Cool, thanks for the info! You wouldn't happen to know off hand what the bolt hole center is would you?
Apprently the tire guys want that so they can look into some rims for me.
