How do you read/understand the numbers on the tires....im not too sure so i just want to clear it up for me....thank you

example: 215 45 17

215=tire height
45=45% of tire WIDTH is the measurement from the outer edge of the rim to to top of the tire.
17=17" rim

i'm not sure of the units for the 215 measurment tho, anyone?

I believe that you meant this:
245 55 17

245 = Tire width in millimeters
55 = aspect ratio (the height is 55% of the width, rim to outer edge)
17 = size of rim

There's also wear ratings, and safety.
I won't even go into the letters....

mixing imperial with metric dimensions seems odd though. images/icons/confused.gif
