2K!! The FWD DET I got from SOKO was only $1500. You should be able to get a RWD DET for less that that. Was that with the ECU and harness and shipping?

A 240sx.org list member had good luck with Kanjimoto, www.kanjimoto.com (http://www.kanjimoto.com) -- he raves about the great condition his motor is in.

I don't understand why they are charging so much for the SR. If they're not stupid they should be getting them from parts yards for around 500 bucks. Either they are jacking up the prices alot or there are alot of extra expenses I don't know about. I was out looking for parts for my Silvia down in tokuyama and I came across 5 SR20DET's for 450 a piece.....

Heh, then hook us up! I can't imagine freight, even from Japan, being more than ~$300 (? is that even close to being correct? I'm not very experienced in international shipping). Of course, usually importers here include the tranny. I'm guessing the importers jack up the price -- simple case of supply and demand, I think.

McKinney Motorsports is supposed to be getting 5 SR's in and some S13 front ends too. Go to http://velocity.isfaster.com and then click on the cali page and then the link is on the bottom left...

it's all markup guys... I was working on importing a load of SR20s myself and found prices as low as $400-600... even clips aren't more than $1500 sometimes. The only problem is shipping cost (which really isn't that bad), import fees/customs/duty taxes, and being sure that the company you are dealing with is ACTUALLY gonna get you your stuff.

As far as going to japan and shipping stuff back: good luck. To ship something like a front clip back by itself would be exhorbitantly expensive. The reason that SOKO can do ok is because they buy several clips of cars, parts, solo motors, trannies, etc all at once and it comes in a BIG crate off a ship.

I did a lot of research into this. There is a lot more involved than you would think. SOKO is in chicago so despite being in the middle of the country they are actually still near water (one of those great lakes). Guess why all these jap motor import places are in Cali an Miami? Because Cali is the first stop for boats an Miami is the 2nd (after the Panama Canal). NY would be the third I suppose. I'm not sure about where/how SOKO gets their stuff.

If someone from the Miami area wants to email me at emj14@columbia.edu , I had found an interesting lead in that area for importing SR20s.

I got a great condition SR from www.kanjimoto.com (http://www.kanjimoto.com) talk to Andre. They are getting more and more requests for SR's. Someone who put an SR into a Nissan Pickup truck also said he recieved a complete engine in good shape from them.

The price is around $2300 complete. This has risen recently due to supply and demand. My engine included the following:
MAF http://home.nycap.rr.com/hhotspot/pics/srswap/sr_vs_ka_MAF.jpg

Ignitor chip

full uncut harness exactly as described here:
http://www.eurostreetgraphics.com/srswap.htm

Ac compressor, ps pump and reservoir, alternator, starter, battery fusebox, crank angle sensor, fan, battery cables, and hoses.

We opened up the oil pan and valve cover to find pristine cams and totally clean oil pan. Still had oil in it when I got it.
