What is the best suspension setup for the 240. How bout, Apexi, tein coilover, groundcontrol and what kinds of shocks???
I need to know this because at the drags last week my car spinned out like crazy and I got sorry times like 15.8 with exhaust and intake. Please help...

We would need more info on your car... i.e. size of your wheels/tires, and try practicing your launch techniques...
I think most of the coilover setups are geared toward road-race, not dragstrip...Talk to the folks at Ground Control, from what I hear they're pretty knowledgeable. First thing to do, though, would probably be to get some good tires...Drag radials, or even better slicks, will help your 60' times more than any suspension setup. I figure with the money you save on suspension, you can get another pair of 15" wheels (for lower weight/rotating inertia) and a set of drag radials.

What kind of tires are you running right now?
You'll be able to hook up a little better if you release the pressure in your rear tires. I'm not sure, but I think 5-10psi is the norm.
You may even want to increase the pressure in your front tires to reduce drag. Just don't drive around like that.
Just to clarify...he means release 5-10 psi from the rear tires, not set the tire pressure to 5-10 psi. On normal street tires, I would think that 25 psi is probably the lowest you want to go, otherwise the tire might shift on the rim. From what I've heard, BFG drag radials work best around 20 psi. If you get a set of slicks which bolt on to the rim...then you can run 5-10 psi of tire pressure http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif

Thanks for the quick feed back guys. Right now I'm using 17' konig monsoon rims wrapped in 225 45 17 Dunlop 9000. Brand new tires too. I have my rear suspension dropped with Sprint springs all the way around with 2 inch drop. my best 60 foot times was 2.37 and i launched it at around 3000 rpm. Oh yeah and today I just got my hot shot intake and header and what a difference it made....

Sorry to say that the 17" wheel combination is not ideal for drag racing. A good light 15" with drag radial is.
As for suspension, how much weight shift does your sprint spring allow? Does the backend squat?
Are you feathering the clutch?
Did you remember to stay clear of the water box?

Thanks ASAD.
That's exactly what I meant. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

I have a 91 240 with an LSD. When I use to drag it, I would get a lot of wheel spin and wheel hop. I usually dump the clutch at 4500 RPM. Anything less and my car would bog. All that wheel hopping must have killed my tranny cause I have problems getting into first gear now. I've also grind when I shift to third gear. Damn. My car must be slow as hell. Either that or I got of those cars that are hard to tune. The more stuff I add, the slower it gets. My 60 foot times have improved, but at half track, my car losses steam and I actually get a slower time than when I had the car stock. When it was stock, I ran a 15.9. Now I can only get 16's and up. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/frown.gif

With my stock '92 with LSD I've gotten 16.2 (with a G-tech thingy) but on stock I launch at maybe 3k. Also, on anything like a slippery surface I get lots of wheel hop as well. Don't like it, it's bad. I'm just waiting for the whole bad of the car to fall off one time. Is there any way to fix it? Would changes to the suspension remedy the problem? Of course I don't have any mods right now but later one that will be something I will want to fix, for sure. I think the only thing saving my back end right now is that my clutch slips so much. As for my tranny, it's a bit notchy i nfirst sometimes but no other problems. I can still shift at the redline with no problems if I want.
