I'm not sure if you're talking about cars straight from Japan, but some of the Japanese cars in America that would compare to the 240 would be a stock Integra GSR vs. a full bolt on 240. A stock 240 should be able to keep up with the new civic SI. You'll take out the older celicas without a problem. The MX-6 with V-6 should be a fun race. Accords are no problems and the civic ex's are pretty much jokes comapred to our cars. Good luck with finding your rivals and I hope you smoke em all.....peace

A friend of mine has an MX-6 V6 and I beat him by a nose almost every time we race. Anyways, it's really even. Also, at the local Sunday night drag race scene I beat a stock Probe GT by 2 car lengths at 80mph. I dunno if it makes a difference in speed but the Probes have fatter tires than the MX-6. Hmmm... what else... 4th gen and older (not the current) Preludes are pretty much even, and Subaru 2.5RS' are pretty slow. Civic SI you should be able to keep even with unless the driver isn't shy about shifting right at the redline, which on that car is kinda scary.

NismoRyder,
Are you talking about figures only? Or are you talking about a specific type of speed or road going contest? Do you want to compare similar vehicle power outputs, sizes, layouts?

The newest MR-2 has about the same power as a Miata (140hp) so don't get it mixed up with the 200+hp MR2 Turbo from a few years ago.

Like I said earlier, MX-6, Probe GT, 4th gen and older Preludes, Civics, Subarus, NA Eclipes, and almost all pickup trucks, sport utes and vans. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif

I have a friend with a 2nd gen rx-7 (N\A mild porting, exhaust, intake, ignition) and we run a dead heat all over town. but a turbo with the same goodies would kill me, for sure. and a 3rd gen rx-7 (sorry guys, but it remains one of my dream cars) regularly spanks a hopped up supra at the races every week.

The new Mr2's will kill a stock 240 they may have the same hp of a miata or se-r but they weigh a lot less. You guys should pick up a mag every once in a while, to see what your talking about. According to CD a new mr2 will do 0-60 in 6.8 seconds. The best 240 time I ever saw said it would do 0-60 in 7.5 seconds.(not even close)

It's been a while since I read the article, but I could have sworn that when SCC did their comparison between a Miata and new MR-2 they were pretty much even in the 0-60 category, which for a Miata is at around 7.5-8 seconds.

Ditto... I think a Miata and MR2 does the 60mph sprint at around mid 7s...

I've seen articles that say the mr2 will do high 6's to low 7's 0-60. which is still a half a second faster than any 240 I've ever seen. The last test I saw in motor trend said the 240 had a 0-60 of 8.1 and did the 1/4 in 16 seconds. Like I said before, not even close.

The bottom line is the mr2 has a better P/W ratio than the 240.

For good close japanese competition, even if it means losing, run a stock 240 against an Acura Integra GS-R, Honda Civic Si, Honda Prelude, Infiniti I30, Lexus ES/GS/IS 300, Mazda 626 V6, Mazda MX-5 Miata, Mazda MX-6, Mitsubishi Eclipse non-turbo, Nissan Maxima, Toyota Camry V6, or 00 Toyota Celica GT-S.

If you'd prefer to win more often, pit the 240 against an Acura Integra GS/LS, Honda Civic non-Si, Honda Accord V6, Infiniti G20, Infiniti Q45, Mazda Millenia, Mitsubishi Eclipse 4-cyl, Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS, 00 Toyota Celica GT or any older model Celica.
