Has anyone put lightweight pullys on their cars? I read that putting them on can damage the ka24de's. And are they really worth it, like $150 for 2-3 hp?

I don't know about damage, unless the pulley isn't balanced correctly. As far as the part being practical for that price; that would be something that you would have to answer. I can think of other upgrades that cost about the same and do considerable more for the hp rating. On the other hand if you're moded up the a** then that's just 3 more ponies you've added to your car. I've heard good reviews from Maxima owners adding lightweight under drive pulleys but I don't think i'd be able to notice 2-3 hp. If money is of no concern then go for it.

The only lightweight pulley that I know of which is made for the 240SX, is made by Unorthodox Racing. All comments I make will be specific of this part.
I've heard mixed reviews from members of the 240sx.org list who have done the install.
Most review have said that it's worth the approximate $160 price. Some swear by it and even claim that it gives up to 8hp and does no damage. Most often, I've heard that you can expect about a 5ph gain. Everyone seems to agree that you get a noticably quicker throttle response. Many have said that the engine is quieter around idle.
There was an early version that was definitely machined improperly. This was said to rub against the crank seal, causing it to leak.
Other people have claimed to have been advised against usage of the part by tuners such as AEM and Jim Wolf Technology.
The absence of a harmonic balancer like that which is found on the OEM Nissan pulley, has been blamed for warping the crank. A warped crank can cause front and rear main seals to leak.
Whether or not you want to risk it is up to you. As only a very small minority of the reviews that I've heard have been negative though, I would still like to try the part myself.
If you do decide to get the pulley, be sure to order the right belt sizes. Many people have received the wrong belt sizes when they ordered the pulley. I have a list of correct 'Dayco' belt numbers for those interested.
