LOL! Not being particularly fond of SUV owners, I had to laugh at this one. A few quotes taken from the article:

"This month alone their fuel bill is $500, double what they paid a year ago... I'd rather be saving for retirement than putting it into my gas tank... Getting rid of the Suburban, however, isn't an option."

This family burns over 220 gallons of gas every month. So do they trade in the Suburban for another vehicle (minivan, etc.) with better gas mileage? Nope. Instead of changing their vehicle or driving habits they blame the governent and the oil companies... what an original idea.

My comments:

They should have thought about the consequences of having 5 kids instead of whining about having to save money to put them through college! The guy complains about the cost of putting the gas nozzle in and filling up the tank. What about the cost of his nozzle, um.....?

Haven't they heard of station wagons or minivans with third row seats?

I hope they aren't planning on having any more kids!

Charles

Gas prices.....yup, its called "inelastic demand;" We don't care if our favorite restaurant just charged us $2.50 for that cola, but gas prices jump $0.05 and what do you get: nationwide hysteria.

Yeah go lightweight four-bangers!

Thats so funny, if people used suv's for off roading like in the commercials, they wouldnt be using as much gas. Drive the kids to school in a minivan or family car if you want to save gas, theres no need to cart them around in a monster truck!

i think it's ridiculous too. even at $1.60 a gallon, that's still cheap compared to what people in some overseas nations are paying. americans are spoiled
