View Full Version : Los Angeles Cruise: Sat. April 27!
April 27th, Saturday, we're looking at 1pm, at the Ralphs Grocery in Calabasas(Malibu area), CA. We chose this location because it's in the middle of all those dangerously curvacious roads we'll be testing out that day...so we'll be meeting up there, to either eat first then hit the roads or vice versa.
Anyone who wants to go is gotta let us/me know, so I know, with time, who's going. Or if you just decide that day to go, then try making it on time and look for a handful of 240sxs and RX7s there. images/icons/smile.gif
Between most of us we have at least 4 Motorola walkie talkies right now..it would be wise and very(VERY) helpful for you to bring some as well. It works out great when someone is lagging and gets lost! or just to screw around.
here is the Address:
Ralphs Grocery
4754 Common Way
Calabasa, CA
*For whoever is going*
Send me a message to let me know! I can arrange something for everybody to have each others CELL #, in case you get lost finding the Ralphs/meet area or if you're running a little late.

My contribution:
This is going to be a fun canyon 'run' -- though admitedly nowhere near the scale or organization levels of the upcoming 240sx convention. images/icons/wink.gif Which of course, we're all going to-- right!??
Try to make it for those who don't have much planned for sat, for those who can't, we'll do this again soon enough. images/icons/smile.gif
FWIW we're using the Motorola Talkabout 2-way radios that run on the family band, i.e. you don't need FCC licenses for these. They run around $50 in Office Depot or Staples, and come in a bunch of different colors for you to choose from. Shameless plug to Motorola!
Anyway this is going to be more a cruise than a GTG, so waxing your cars will not be necessary. In fact, may I personally recommend NOT washing or waxing your car before you come out, as the roads out there are rather dusty -- your car WILL get DIRTY! Wash the car after the run, 'cause it'll need it. heh
Also let me just say this before we get there --
THIS CANYON RUN IS NOT A RACE!
I can't emphasize this more heavily. Drive responsibly and at your own pace-- there's no need to be 3 inches from the guy in front of you! We will probably be driving relatively spiritedly, but this will be by no means a 10/10ths driving experience. Take it easy if you're not comfortable w/ the speed at which COOLEROW (hint, hint haha...) drives; drive your own canyon and be respectful to others in our caravan, as well as others on the road!
Again, since this will likely put some more stress on your car than in daily driving, let me suggest you CHECK ALL FLUIDS, check your tires for wear and air, make sure your brakes aren't having problems, etc etc.
We're all going out to have a good time, but safety is our main concern; bring plenty of water (to drink and to top off your radiator if need be) and spare tires; you never know what kind of debris will be on those back roads.
We will likely go in one big pack as opposed to splitting up into fast/slow groups (unless turnout really, really exceeds what we expect, which is at most a dozen or so 240sx/RX7s combined), so I hope to maintain a reasonably paced drive, i.e. not blasting through blind curves and off-camber switchbacks at insane speeds. Drifting is not encouraged, as these are mostly residential roads... we will not be held liable for any damage you cause, either to your car, others' property, or (knock on wood) yourself!
Again, drive safely and this will be a good time for you to get intimate with your car (and hopefully NOT too intimate with the canyon walls or someone else's rear end...) as well as getting to know some of your 240sx and RX-7 brethren. . . hope to see you there! images/icons/grin.gif
Just bringing this LA 240 (or any nissan you want to bring!) meet back up to your attention -- if any of you decide to come last minute, show up any time between 12 and 1:15, we'll be around.
