I thought that the FX45 was going to be a 2003? On the nissan news website it says:
"2003 and Beyond
Look for these future Infiniti products:
· FX45 Luxury Crossover Vehicle - combining sports car performance with SUV utility and an advanced all-wheel drive system, the Infiniti FX45 will be available with an estimated 300-plus horsepower 4.5-liter V8 based on the class-leading Q45 powerplant "
How come they didn't have a write up on it in the 2003 model line up if its going to be a 2003? Do you think that they are going to make this thing a 2004?

It probably will be released as a 2003, but it will not be out until winter 2003, not this fall.

I think it will be 2003 model. If you go to nissannews.com and then from menu select Product > Infiniti > Product Guide > 2003 Vehicles you'll see the FX45 listed there along with the G35c and M45. Also under the Overview section for the FX45 it says, "a production version of the FX45 has been announced as a future addition to the Infiniti lineup and will go on sale in early 2003."

I think I know what they are going to do. I think it will be a 2004 but it is the first 2004 Infiniti model and come out early in the year. Kinda like the G is the only 2003 model right now. I hope they have a incredible Ad Campaing for these new cars. Its to important for the future of the company.

They definitely need to do a whole bunch of advertising and marketing for the new cars. The upcomings in Infiniti's lineup should stand up a good fight against bmws, mbs, lexus, and others, if they dont mess it up. All of the new cars are competitive, and should have a major effect on the market. I hope Infiniti knows what theyre doing and have a really good strategy........ http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif

Infiniti is doing something unique among the luxury marques by openly revealing upcoming products in TV and print ads. There has been an ad touting the "New Infinitis" in all the major auto mags in which they show the M, the G coupe and the FX45. I haven't seen anyone preview their coming vehicles so far in advance quite like this.
What I haven't seen is them capitalizing on all the glowing press for the G in any of thier advertsing. There needs to be a TV spot illustrating the G's emerging dominance among it's revered competitors (namely the 3 series).

Have we even seen the production version of the FX45 yet? I thought the liquid mercury vehicle was another design study that sorta previewed some design aspects of the FX45. I guess with the commercials and all the exterior is production ready, droopy-[censored] and all.

I always heard that the latest concept ( the one currently in all the photos) is 90% final.

The FX45 that you see now in pictures is 96% finished. And no the liquid Mercury paint won't go into production because it costs alot of money. The interior of the FX45 is 65% finished.

I'm guessing the 4% on the exterior that isn't production-worthy are the rims huh? I hope the interior keeps the awesome dash just the way it is, but comes with AT LEAST 5 seats. MDX and future RX300 have a third row seat. Since the FX is virtually the same length as the MDX it would be nice, but doubtful. Infiniti is aiming for BMW and the X5 barely has any storage in the back, much less a 3rd row. If its priced low enough I might have to look into getting one, it would be nice to be high up for a change.

The 4% is the rims which are 22" but will go into production with 21" rims. The tires are also a concept for Michelin. Also the door handles will not go into production. This current FX45 door handles work by you touching the button and the door handle pops out and the door opens up. The FX will be offered in a FX35 version with a V6 3.5L 270 horse while the FX45 will have a V8 4.5L 325 horse. The FX will be a 5 passenger vehicle. No third row will be offered in this car. Inifiniti will be releasing a full size SUV in one year. Check this out the width of the car with the doors open will be 13 1/2 feet. WOW! Can't wait until they release the pics. http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/ooo.gif

Wow, thanks ATF! Any news on when the FX35 comes out? Kinda surprised they only went for 270hp out of the VQ when the got the Z pulling 287. Any info on the pricing of either?

The FX35 is going to start around $37-38k while the FX45 will start around $43k. They are both going to come out at the same time.

Are you speaking fact or speculation....who are you????......either way what you're saying sounds really good. I hope they keep those glass looking pieces in the interior...looks sweet http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/cool.gif

That glass material does look cool. But the gate-shift pattern looks wacky. Almost like a "5" in shape.

How reliable is Edmunds.com info on the FX45? In their future vehicles section, they have the FX45 as a 4-seater and the concept shows 21" rims that they say won't go in the production model.
Looking at the photos so far, IMHO the concept's interior is nice but, is it really close to the production model? One point... How do they fit the driver's side airbag in this steering column's configuration?
Check it out at Edmunds-

FX45 and FX35 ( The V6 Model ) will be here in Jan of 2003 they might be able to get away with calling them 2004's. They will have both a six and eight think BMW X5

That "glass material in the 5 shape" is really the same material as the crystal used in Superman I, and the shape is an "S" not a "5". Can anyone say "Shaq's Car"?

nice find, bland wheels (then again they are "suv" wheels)
when were these taken?

Those are awesome, do you have anymore?!?!
The wheels look very hyundai like http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/crazy.gif But i am sure they will look alot better when the center caps are on them.
I also dont really care for the large reflectors on the rear bumper, but this could definatly be a possible next car.

Sweet Pics! Did you manage to get any shots of the interior???
From what I've heard it's been significantly changed from the show car but I've yet to see it in print.
Can't wait to see one in person, this may be my next car.

Although they didn't change much on the exterior, what they did change was for the worse. Basically, it looks like the only things they changed were the wheels/tires and fender flares. I have to say, that those things were what gave this car some balls. They basically neutered this car. Those wheels can't be bigger than 18's, which are 3" smaller the 21's on the concept. That's like going from 18's to 15's. I'm not saying they needed to keep 21's (I knew they wouldn't), but make 19's standard with 20's available in a sport package. They way these pictures show, there's too much fender gap and rubber to be "half sports car, half SUV" as Infiniti claims. Here are some pics to compare:
Before:
http://www.nissannews.com/multimedia/concept/800px/fx4505.jpg
After:
http://members.telocity.com/emilyvincent/htdocs/images/img_0004.jpg
As far as the loss of the flared fenders:

After:

I understand these are just pre-production test mules, but I just hope that they don't defang it too much.

Anyone noticed the tailights are LED, similar to the tailights on the G35C???
Also, the black trim that surrounds both fenderwell, making the wheel gap much larger that it looks (optical illusion).

wow...i've been waiting to see some pics of this.more truck like, thats good. is the license plate on the bumper now?...i hope not. if you go to that acura sight the guy said it was 2 fx35's then he corrected him only after going to the infiniti website...so i think those are fx35's and the fx45 will get the bigger wheels.
keep the pics comin' http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/wink.gif

The other thing I'm wondering is whether or not they are going to stick to the 4 individual seats or go to a rear bench for 5 passenger seating. Personally I don't mind the 4 passenger set up since I hardly ever have 5 people in my car at once, but I assume it would make a difference to most other people, especially ones with 3 kids.

Too bad, I liked it....
I don't like the toned-down grill either. It looks better here with the 20" rims--> http://www.infiniti.com/ms/future/fx45a/fx45a_flash_frameset.html , so what gives with these punny lookin rims in these spy pics?? Thats one hell of an optical illusion if those are the 20's on these mules. The lights on the mirrors are missing too.
