View Full Version : Murano - Performance and Headroom?

I'm 6'5". I'm shopping for a sports/lux sedan with plenty of headroom and performance for a reasonable price. It also should be luxurious and spacious enough for me to transport clients.
I love the G35, however, the wheel doesn't telescope. With the mandatory sunroof there is more headroom than most sedans but not as much as I'd like.
It seems that the Murano may fit the bill, especially with the adjustable pedals. Has anyone seen any headroom numbers? What else would you suggest I consider? It appears I would be compromising on the power/weight ratio, however I love the CVT. If Infiniti had put the skyline CVT on the G with a little bit more headroom I'd be sold!
Thanks for your help.

I'm with you! I've got a G and it is OK but I need another car SUV with more room. I'm 6'4". I hope the Murano has enough headroom and bigger seats than the G. I am also considering the Volvo XC 90 2003 but would prefer to keep the price under $40,000 with a Nav system. The Volvo with Nav, taxes and some upgrades will be close to $48,000. I love the Nav in my G! The Murano could be my next car. http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif

It's frustrating not to be able to get more info on the Murano ......... just aren't any real numbers. The Volvo XC 90 is going to beat them to the market and Nissan is still hiding the details. Anybody have any ideas on where there is more info??????

Since the Murano and Pathfinder are using the same 3.5L V6 engine, and both rated at 240HP. The only different is will be the layout of the engine inside the car. Now will the Murano have the same amount of torque as the Pathfinder? What is the max torque on the Pathfinder anyway?

Pathfinder has 265 lb-ft of torque.

Thee same engine is in the G35 and Z car! It's up to Nissan what HP they put in the Murano. The G35 sedan has 260/260.

The same engine as also in the Maxima, Altima, I35, and maybe the next redesign Quest. Yes, Yes.....

Just thought I would bring back the first post and answer it for them. Yes its kinda the same engine as the Maxima and Altima but they toned down the HP. Great headroom too:)

Pretty tall myself at 6'3" and find the Murano has a good amount of head room for me.
Never feel squezed in at all in the Murano, even comapred to a full size Chev Z71 that I traded in for it.

I'm not tall, but headroom is always a big issue for me. I sit upright, and my legs are short (so all my height is in the torso). In the G35, I bang my head on the roof.
On the other hand, with the Murano, I have several inches of clearence, even with the sunroof. The headroom is top notch.

I'm pretty short, only 6'1", but I had a 6'4" friend drive my SL AWD the other day and he had plenty of headroom. I would suggest that the numbers/measurements/specs are irrelevant. Go sit in one, and then decide if the car fits you. If it does, then think about a test drive.

I'm amazed when 6'1" people feel short. I'm 5'6".

PS The Murano feels quite spacious for me, btw. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I'm 5'10" but long in the torso, so I run into height problems in cars sometimes. I'd have to have the seat in the Maxima all the way down. The Murano's no problem. A buddy of mine who's 6'3" and built like an OX was smiling and commented on the room, when he got in. I looked and saw he had enough head room too..
Ya gotta love it!
