OK i usually explain things in a complicated manner so i hope you can follow me.
I will explain speeds in KM/h and 100KM/h = 60mph. By the way, i drive a 94 auto Maxima. I merged on a hiway with 2 lanes, at 110km/h. A guy in the right lane was goung slow so i had to make a quick decision to change lanes so i sped up to 120, another guy in a late model Chevy Lumina in the fast lane also sped up as not to let me pass. i passed anyways and it was pretty close, but i did not slow down (its debateable whether i cut him off). He then rode my tail for a mile where traffic kinda eased up, i then went in slow lane to let him pass, he also went into the slow lane to continue riding my tail. But then he left the hiway. at the next entry point he entered the hiway again but was still behind me. he cut in front of me and (u know how american cars are notorious for soft swirvy suspensions) he start rocking on the hiway as a result of his speed and some natural bumps. he brakes right in front of me. I then got scared and i went next to him and looked at him shaking my, ahem, hand http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum//images/icons/smile.gif. I then finally noticed that he was a taxi. The crazy idiot then tried to swerve my off the hiway!!! I said f*** this i floored it up to 150km/h and left him in the dust. he floored also. i then slowed down due to a police infested zone on the hiway. he didnt. he came next to me. at this point we were on the same 2 lane hiway but elevated and surrounded by conkrete walls. 2 cars were in front of us in each lane, he tried to pass me but the adrenaline had gotten to me so i "boxed him in" and started to squeeze him towards the walls. at which point the hiway turned into a 4-lane. i floored it again and left him in the dust again. he floored it again. we were both wiggling in and out of lanes. i got to my exit before he did. well, he also took the same exit... man i was ready to lash out at him! i had a serious case of road rage, i felt it. he then came next to me on the city road, smiled and turned on another street. I tell you i have rarely felt an adreanaline rush so intense.
My conclusions: Taxi drivers are nuts. 94 max handles better and is faster than new Lumina (we all knew that). This was dangerous, i have to calm down on the road.
Comments? Any other CAR VS taxi/truck/SUV/large object stories?

Scarry story, the arabian. The first time I drove to a big city, it was Chicago. I was surprised by how reckless taxi drivers were: changing lanes like crazy, cutting off other cars, all at high speed. But nothing close to your story.

Where do you live ???
Chicago seems to be crazy comparing to our City of Retards, but I was able to drive there without much trouble. I can say the same about the Bay Area. The worst city I've driven in so far was Paris. It was impossible to find a way to the hotel after getting the damn car; returning it was even worse because as soon as I'd found the rental agency, I'd remembered that I need to refuel it ...

You guys should try to go down and drive in Tijuana, Mexico.
On second thought...Nobody should.

I was in Champaign, IL when I was a student, and got first driver license there.
I heard the worst place to drive is Bangkok, where it takes 3 hours just for a few miles.

Oh, those lines on the road are meant to be for reference only. No need to heed them...

Basically to drive in most part of Asia, you basically take what you are not suppose to do here in the states and do it there... That's my rule when I drive there...

I've been to Bangkok and you're pretty much on the mark. Traffic regulations hah! Local drivers turn a 3-lane road into a 5 or sometimes even 6-lane road, utilizing all the dirt and grass on the shoulder for 'extra' lane space. Also, don't worry about staying within the marked lanes, wherever you can squeeze your vehicle seems to be the rule of the road. I'd hate to drive a nice car there.
