Tonight me(89 2.4 5spd, STOCK), Boarder311(2.2 cav 3spd-auto, Intake, Muffler, upper motor mount, strut tower brace) and another friend(big truck thing, v8, 3spd-auto, STOCK) went down to this really nice 1/4 mile strip in an idustrial park(see: J-Body.org forum / Pleasently Surprised!!!).
First my truck friend and Boarder311 lined up. They were flagged and off they went. Off the line the truck had Boarder but near the finish mark the 2.2's higher end just overtook the truck.
Then me and Boarder lined up for the second run. We were about even off the line(I screwed mine up, and his was beautiful), but at the end of 1st i was pulling ahead...then came second and a little more pulling ahead...and this just about continued through out the gears. In the end I won by about 3 car lengths. Though i do give him credit...he kept up with me longer than i thought he would...though he didnt gain(maybe the mods he had came in handy after all?).
My truck friend and Boarder raced a few more times and the outcome was consistently the same, with the 2.2 overtaking the truck in the end.
I raced Boarder once again. This time giving him about a 2 car length head start. Once again i screwed up my launch(spinning them) and he shot ahead. I unfortunatly didnt pass until around 70-75(?).
And again i raced Boarder...this time i beat him by the 3 car length gap.
My friend used my car to race him a few times and he finally got a really good launch...it was the last race and Boarder shut it down before the masacre really set in. It was over right after the launch. At about 30-40 Boarder slammed on his brakes and skidded everywhere...it was pretty cool.
Then(im sorry Jesse i just have to add this)...Boarder pulled up next to me and we told him to spin em right in front of us. He agreed and totally F()CKED it up. All there was was a little, practically inaudable, chirp. It was pretty funny...cause he was obviously trying to show off...hahahaha...funny stuff...
Overall a good nite!!! We all had tons of fun...and unfrotunatly this will be one of the few times left that we race until next spring.
