Page 12: "After making its debut as a show-stopping concept at past shows in Detroit, the Infiniti FX45 springs to life as a production model at NAIAS 2003. “The 2003 Infiniti FX45 has a special relationship with the NAIAS,” said Mark McNabb, Infiniti Division vice president and general manager.
“It’s where we debuted the original FX45 concept, the second generation FX45 concept and, now, the first official public showing of the production 2003 FX45 premium crossover SUV.”
McNabb explained that Infiniti has taken the “what if” aggressive sport-utility vehicle idea and turned it into a “what is” reality – complete with dramatic exterior styling, driver-oriented interior, true SUV utility, innovative technology, 310-horspower 4.5-liter V8 engine, advanced all-wheel drive and 20-inch wheels and tires. “It’s a stunning transformation with the soul of the Bionic Cheetah FX45 concept show car intact – blending SUV brawn and utility with an aggressive, sporty driver’s feel,” said McNabb."

I think that's more than enough for one of the lighter SUVs, the ML500 and the X5 4.4 both are around 290. The problem is the pricing for this car. Somehow Mercedes has made the ML500 affordible starting at $46,000 with nice ammenities. The FX45 needs to be pretty damn good if it tops out over $50,000.

Good work. But I question the 310 HP number beacuse it wasn't qouted by McNabb.

I agree with you on the pricing. Also, isn't the FX35 going to have around 280hsp.I don't see why you would want to pay the xtra $ for the 45 when the only diff. is 30 ponies. If the 310 hsp is true, this is just another major strike against Infiniti which started out with what they should have put out on the market.

They can still pull together a good sales relation between the FX35 and the FX45. Say the FX35 4WD starts off at $38,000 plus there are $8,000 worth of options taking the grand total of a loaded FX35 4WD to $46k. If they then price the FX45 fully stocked with all the goodies a loaded FX35 carries for $45k plus the extra 30 Hp than its a good deal. Kinda like how a full loaded S430 it $8 grand more than the S500. We'll have to wait and see. IMO Infiniti needs to concentrate on selling the FX35 which there has been no official announcement that it even exists. They will probably sell 1 45 for every 4 35s. If anything all the FX45 will accomplish is providing Infiniti with one $40k+ vehicle that sells more than 10,0000 a year and bring some value to the name. They are gradually extending upwards and there is no better way to do so than through the luxo-SUV market.
