On these message board, I'm assuming that many people are thrilled that Automobile magazine picked the 350Z as Automobile of the Year.

But I also know from reading posts that the majority of people around here don't like Chris Bangle or his recent BMW designs. But Automobile picked Bangle as Man of the Year and the BMW Z4 as Design of the Year.

So, I pose this question....is it an honor for 350Z to be in the company of Bangle and Z4? I'm sure someone will argue that the 350Z is the correct choice and that Bangle and Z4 are mistakes. But if you argue that the Automobile magazine committee is flawed in its choice of Bangle and Z4, than can anyone defend the selection of 350Z?

Are all three awards valid or invalid?

The Z4 looks great. I actually like Bangle's designs. Everyone in the high end segment has been afraid to try anything new, and I think his car's have more presence than anything in the segment. I really like the 7 series, once you see a few it looks great. It just commands attention and respect, it's so elegant.

I don't know what the big deal is either. I have often found BMW's to be on the boring and conservative side. Now they are getting distinctive and interesting at least. I like the way the 7 looks. I have often thought that Luxury cars should be the ones with the most interesting and beautiful designs. Sort of in the foot steps of a Jag or a Lambo. The germans have put out a bunch of boring cars over the years, in particular MB and BMW
