I read an article in Auto Week(<I think) a few months ago that Renault will supply all 4 cylinder engines and Nissan will be in charge of 6's and 8's. Is this true? And if so, does anyone know how reliable Renault engines are?

I cant for one second imagine Nissan doing that. One thing Renault is getting out of this deal is the oportunity..if anything to use Nissan engines in their cars.Nissan has a high standard for quality and this can certainly help Renault in producing better iron.I have read that when the aggrement with Ford expires in a few years with the joint Quest/Villager that the next "Nissan" minivan could be built off or be a modified Renault product.
Not any more. Ghosn said at the New York auto show that Nissan will be building an all new minivan in America. It won't be a rebadged Renault or a nissan minivan from Japan.

I think you're letting an old reputation judge your opinion.
Actually, I was told by a Nissan insider that when they visited Renault's Research Center in Paris, they were surprised as to how advance some of their research was. Needless to say there were pleasantly impressed. Renault has some state of the art cars and engines now.

They sure do have some state of the art engineering. They engineered the Supertec engine used by William's F1 team in the 90's that propelled Micheal Schumacher to 2 world titles.
The Renault of today is not the unreliable POS Renault of the 80's.

Renault also has one of the best Pocket Rockets of the industry... called Clio V6... it's the roughly the same size as the VW Golf, weighs in around 2300lbs... and it's powered by a 2.5L V-6 and pushes out well over 250hp... in contrast, Honda/Acura is touting their new 3.2CL to have 260hp with VTEC, out of 3.2L... you make the call!

Reliability is dependent upon manufacturing process and quality control, not related to engine research. If Renault learns from Nissan on quality control and supplies Nissan with its research results, that will be the best thing.

Here's something fun to consider:
The next Nissan minivan based off a rebadged Renault Espace F1!
Zero-60 in 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 194mph...

I do. That is one of the best looking minivan around, besides, the Espace F1 is made of carbon fiber sitting ontop of a Formula 1 chassis pushing 800+hp.
This car is available in GT2...
