Does Infiniti have one navigation system for all its models? Are Q45/M45/G35 navigation systems identical?
I'm hoping FX will have touchscreen rather than joystick input.

Same system in all vehicles. Infiniti will not be coming with a touch screen but rather a voice activated system.

QX4 has a touchscreen, and is CD based.
I35 is also CD based, but looks like others (M45, Q45, etc.) for the most part.
M45 & Q45 mostly identical save for some screen colorations. G35 is about 90% similar to these.
FX45 has different appearance to menus and various other screens, and slightly different maps - more of a widescreen look.

I guess I should have qualified my answer. All DVD based systems are the same. The CD based system is only in vehicles that have been discontinued or are being discontinued. Next generation is going to be voice activated.

When will the next-gen voice-activated nav system make it into cars?

I'd like to know this too. Also, if you know DFW, is it safe to assume it'll be like other voice systems and allow operation of other vehicle functions (for example...climate control...radio?) I hope this extends to the other cars like the G35 too!

I believe that the voice activated Nav system may be coming in 2004.
