I've just purchased a 2000 Pathfinder LE. It's less than 2 weeks old and I've noticed that the driver's side sags about 1/2 inch lower than the passenger side, both front and rear. This seem kind of unusual to me. Is it something I should be worried about?
Otherwise, I love the vehicle.

No, I haven't heard of it either. We have a 99 Pathfinder and it's fine except for a squeek coming from the liftgate.

BJ, I would take it to the dealer. If it's a cosmetic defect that occurs within the first 36,000 miles it should be covered. Within the first two weeks, it definitely should be covered.

Please tell us what happens.

I own a Frontier and it sags on the passenger side, too. I haven't gotten it fixed yet. Any suggestions?

(just thinking of the more obvious answer, which probably isn't the problem or I don't think you'd have posted here)

Ok Ok, so I need to loose 10 lbs. Perhaps I should sit on the passenger side for a while. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum//images/icons/smile.gif

I just bought an LE this past Saturday. I have not noticed this problem on my Pathfinder. But I will check it out and let you know if I have this same problem. I'm sure you must have checked your tire pressure, right? Let us know if you find out more.

It's been such a long time since I posted this problem. I brought the car back to the dealer about 6 weeks ago. They acknowledged that there was a sag on the driver's side and said they had to see what Nissan wanted to do about it.

I hadn't heard from them for a while so I called a couple of weeks ago. The guy I spoke to said that they ordered a set of springs. He said that Nissan first said it was ok to do the work under warranty. Then he said they changed their mind and that the serice mgr. had been "going around with them".

I called back today and asked to speak with the service mgr. He didn't seem to know anything about it, but said he'd check into it and call me back. He called back and left a message that the springs were on backorder. Said that they upgraded the order to a "customer care" order which is supposed to make it happen fast (sure). So right now, I'm just waiting. Oh yeah, he also said that a difference of up to 1 inch was normal. I think that's bs! Anyway, I'll have to wait a little longer before I start to make some noise. I guess I could ask for a regional customer rep or something?

I'll report back when I hear any news.

BJ, you're talking about the air bag right? That's weird...when ever I've had interior problems with my two Maximas, my local dealer has always fixed or at least tried to without headache. On my 96 they even replaced the whole dash board because some plastic deformation!

Have you tried taking it to another dealer?

No, not the airbag. It's a suspension problem. The driver's side is 1/2 inch lower than the passenger's side. Front and rear. I guess they probably used springs from different lots on each side of the assembly line.

Wow! That sounds like a major problem. Have you tried taking it another dealer? Sometimes the dealer are courageous enough to do the right thing. Is this the dealer you bought the car from?

Yes... if your local Nissan dealer isn't so willing, take it to a Infiniti dealership... some Infiniti dealerships will do a Nissan service, in hopes of earning your business the next time you buy a vehicle... http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum//images/icons/grin.gif

Yes it is. Although, it wasn't originally on his lot. He got it from another dealer. The other weird thing I noticed is that the body side molding on one of the doors is different from the others. Slightly different color. So right away I think that the vehicle has been damaged and repaired but I can find no overspray or any other indications, so I don't know what to make of that.

Sounds fishy. I wonder if you can find out anything from Nissan by checking the VIN?

BJ, what ever happened with the Pathfinder?
